Hi I'm Susan

I'm a Mom who loves life! I enjoy photography, working out, reading, teaching and scuba diving. I am Christian and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California. However, for the past 16 years, I have been raising my family in Arizona. I feel lucky to be celebrating 25 years of marriage this May to my best friend and love of my life, Steve. We met at BYU when I had just returned from serving a mission to Houston, Texas Spanish speaking and Steve was just finishing his masters in Electrical Engineering following his mission to Belgium. I feel really blessed to be the Mom of two amazing daughters who are both attending college and two great sons who are luckily still home keeping us busy and keeping us from being empty nesters too soon. I am excited to hear this coming week where our 20 year old daughter will be going on her mission. I love taking photos of the many fun things we do together as a family. I also love working out and traveling and have always loved to read and write. I enjoy teaching and taught scrapbooking and stamping when my kids were young and now have expanded that to substitute teaching in the public schools near us in grades K-12. I hope I can share some of what I've learned and my love of life with my own children and those around me!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a family with a long history in the Mormon church, however I like every member had to gain my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Growing up in Southern and then Northern California, I was often one of only a handful of Mormons at my schools and have been asked many questions about my religion all my life. This forced me to think about religion and what I truly believe. It seems that as I have grown, read the scriptures, studied and prayed my testimony has grown as well from a childlike faith to a deep and abiding faith. Also, as I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, my testimony was further strengthened as I had the opportunity to teach and bear testimony to others. I received an undeniable witness of the truthfulness of what I was teaching. I know that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and that He is the keystone of my religion. I believe that we have a prophet guiding our church today just as they did anciently and that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the Earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith and religion every day by serving and loving those around me to the best of my ability. I prepare the music for the women in my congregation. I have also helped with many events and activities in our area. These have ranged from Fall festivals that involve our congregation and is open to anyone in our community, to decorating for dynamic dating night for kids just learning the ropes of dating. I served for many years with the Young Women in our area organizing many events and going with them to girl's camp. I feel that as I serve others I can serve the Savior and also make friends in the extended community.
