Hi I'm Kiersten

I am currently enjoying my senior year of High School. I love art, books, especially my family and most of all my Heavenly Father.

About Me

I enjoy life even though it's hard. There are so many beautiful things I see around me daily that I’m grateful for. Small children’s faces smiling up at me, heavenly light that illuminates the day, the family of quail playing in the dirt, technological capabilities that allow us all to communicate throughout the world in an instant. Jesus Christ created this world for me and you. I am so grateful for my eyes (and glasses) that help me see the world around me. I would be so lost without them. I have been through a lot. I know how difficult and heartbreaking it is to be lied to and hurt by those you love, to have pets die tragically, to have suicidal friends, to learn that an individual you have known and loved all your life now has different standards than you. Despite challenges I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading adventure stories, watching comedies and other movies(go Disney!!!). I love to laugh! :) Music, whether I'm singing, listening to, or making it, is very important to me. I played the clarinet in band for 5 years, enjoy singing in the church choir whenever possible, and am trying to find time to learn my guitar. Music is a very important aspect of my life. I try to see the positive in every situation. "If you don't like it, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude about it!"

Why I am a Mormon

I, like everyone in the world, look for things that make me happy. I have had this religion my whole life so it wasn’t until I overlooked it that I realized this special truth: This church is the only thing that gives me true happiness. This way of life is the one thing that allows me to be happy through trials, through the end of my days and into eternity. Because Christ gave his life for me, I can become clean again after I mess up. He reaches out and pulls me back to my feet. That peaceful fact can't be found anywhere else. After feeling the Holy Spirit testify to my heart that the words spoken by the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-Day Saints were and are true, I KNOW that I am where I'm supposed to be.

How I live my faith

I attend a scripture class (called seminary) every morning before school. This class allows me to learn more about the books of scripture (The New and Old Testament of the Bible, the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and the Doctrine and Covenants) and more importantly about my Savior Jesus Christ. It gives me strength to get through the hard school day. I also attend church services on Sundays as well as youth activities during the week. In order to not become too discouraged by all the negatives in this world, I read words or ancient prophets as well as pray to God. One of our recent prophets Harold B. Lee said “Life is fragile and, therefore, should be handled with prayer.” I see the truth of that in my life. I, being human, need the help of my Heavenly Father daily and in order for that to happen I need to let Him in. I have to follow his commandments in order to feel Him with me.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe the Bible is the word of God recorded by prophets and apostles. We regard it and the other books of scripture as Holy. This book, as well as others, gives us direction through our lives as we study it. The Book of Mormon is another book of prophet's records and historical accounts that we study and live by. Others include The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. These are all scriptures that help us come closer to God and learn of Him. Not one book is more important than another, but my life would not be complete without all of them. Show more Show less
