Hi I'm Amanda

I am a young mother and wife. I love to create master works of art. I am a proud Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to the most wonderful husband, who has given me the gift of being a mother to our AMAZING son. I LOVE to cook and experiment with different kinds of foods and dishes. I also enjoy painting, drawling, and arts n' crafts. I like to watch musicals and romantic comedies, and love to listen to Country music. I work as a stay-at-home mom and I am in the progress of getting my Associates in Arts so i can become a teacher!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in high school I found out that one of my friends was Mormon. At the time I remember hearing the term "Mormon" but had no idea what it was. When I asked him about it he explained to me that they were, a church of Christ, and all about their beliefs and values. I asked him many questions and the more I learned the more I wanted to know, I was intrigued. Soon I started to meet with Sister Missionaries and take actual lessons. I loved everything I learned and it sounded so good to me, but I still wasn’t 100% sure if this was the right path for me. Then one night I was reading The Book of Mormon when I had an epiphany and became overwhelmed with the spirit. I have a hard time describing what I felt in that moment but it was like nothing I have ever felt before. It was in that moment that I knew, this IS the true church, all of this is real, it’s true. When I asked my parents’ permission to be baptized I had expected the worse; but to my surprise they fully supported me in my decision. So the July following my 16th birthday I was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. To this day I am still an active member of the church and I love and believe it with my whole heart. I love the values and morals the church teaches and the knowledge I have gain through the scriptures. I have lived my life having the church both in and out of my life and now that I am a member, I am so happy, and I know if I had never joined the church I would be missing out of the greatest joys life has to offer, and I would not be the person I am today and it's all thanks to that one friend who is now my husband.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a constant example of what I believe to everyone I meet. Though it can be hard sometimes when my friends and family who aren’t members want to participate in activities that I don’t find spiritually beneficial or uplifting, like seeing rated R movies and going to bars, I follow Christs' example and encourage those around me to do the same. I have been a teacher to the youth in our church and I love nothing more then to teach them about the gospel and Christ and sharing my personal experiences and stories to help show them the happiness and joy they can experience through living the gospel principles.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

I know a lot of my friends have come to me with this question, the reason we don’t drink alcohol, tea and coffee and refrain from using substance such as tobacco and other drugs is because our bodies are a gift from our heavenly father. Our bodies are precious and important and deserve to be treated as such. For example if you were to receive an expensive diamond watch or necklace, you wouldn’t go dipping it in acid, throwing it against the wall or coloring on it with permanent marker. You would take great care of it making sure no damage occurs. It is the same with our bodies, they are unique and special, so we should not destroy them with harmful substance. So the Church promotes a healthy lifestyle and diet to ensure healthy and happy bodies. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

I remember when I was first investigating the church I asked my friend, who was a member of the church "so do you guys celebrate Christmas?" and he gave me the weirdest look like I was crazy! Ha-ha But like most Christian religions we do celebrate Christmas as well as Easter. We also enjoy in celebrating national holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving and the 4th of July! For Church one should dress nice; guys in suits and/or nice button down shirt with dress pants and tie, ladies wear modest dresses or shirt and skirt. Show more Show less
