Hi I'm Emily

I am an avid journal writer. I have over 45 journals. I love to bring smiles and happiness to everyone I meet. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished my bachelors degree in Family Consumer Human Development. I love big band swing dancing, crocheting, reading, spending time with my family, gardening, riding my beach cruiser with my sisters, the smell of rain, spending time reading my scriptures, praying to Heavenly Father, any chance to serve others. I am currently serving a mission. I feel it is a huge blessing. My life is not the same without it. The things I have learned at the Missionary Training Center is the most incredible thing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the covenant. My parents are members and raised me in the church. I first started to read the Book of Mormon as a young child with my brother. My brother was challenged to start preparing for a mission by waking up at six thirty to read the scriptures. He invited me to wake up and read it with him. We did read together. I sometimes fell asleep because of how tired I was. Then when I got into young womens and started seminary my freshmen year of high school, I decided I needed to be in the habit of reading my scriptures. I knew I would not want to miss a day of it. As I studied more and more, I came to see the treasures that were found in the scriptures and the church magazines like the Ensign and New Era. As my love for the scriptures grew, the earlier I would wake up and the longer I spent studying. The words I read and the spirit I felt were beautiful to me. I just could not get enough of it. Being a member of the church means everything to me. I don't know of a better way to live my life. I am thankful to be a member. I am still on my journey of gaining a stronger testimony. But the one thing I know more than anything else is that I know that my Redeemer lives. I strive to live my life to show that I know that my Redeemer lives. I have gone through life with this scripture in mind, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Phil. 4:13. I know Christ lives to bless God's children. He lives to wipe away our tears. He is ready to run to help us. We just have to be willing to come unto Christ. His hand is stretched out still. I know the gospel has been restored in its fulness and is everlasting. I know we have a living prophet on the earth who speaks for our eternal gain. I know the Book of Mormon is another witness of Christ. I came to know that through reading and praying about it. It is a journey of a life time for everyone.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in every thing I do. I want to deepen my conversion by applying and living the teachings of Christ in my life. It is a huge help to me. I do not know how I can go through life with out what I know now. I am a much better person because of what I know. Over the summer I helped the missionary committee by visiting with new members to teach them the first lessons in the church. I want others to feel the joy and peace that I feel every day of my life. This comes from praying to my Father in Heaven. I spend time being tutored by the Lord through reading my scriptures. This helps me to resist temptation better than before. I try to be obedient to what the Lord asks me to do. I enjoy visitng sisters in my ward to help strengthen their faith and try to help meet their needs. I only know how to meet their needs through prayer. I want to know what Heavenly Father wants for His children. Visiting with people and showing them that I care is the best thing. I feel the love Heavenly Father has for His children. I am thankful to know what I know because I know what my purpose is. I want to help every one of God's children return back to live with Him. This is what this life is all about.
