Hi I'm Jess

I'm a senior in high school. I'm part of a military family and I have moved around my whole life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently, I am a senior in high school. I am highly active in my school's theatre program and have just begun getting into our Speech and Debate team. Next year, I plan on attending BYU-Idaho and beginning work on my Early Childhood Education degree. Because my father is in the Air Force, we have moved around my whole life. I was born in Colorado, and moved to Maryland, Germany, New Jersey, and back to Colorado. It has always been really hard for me to move because I love my friends and I learn to call my new location home. Moving frequently has taught me to value strong friendships and compassion towards others. As a teenager, I love socializing. I love going to school for the social aspect and leqarning interesting things. I love going to hang out with my friends at the mall, movie theatre, or anywhere for that matter! I really enjoy funny people and having good fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually born into a LDS family. My parents have strived to help me learn the gospel, but have always stressed personal choices and consequences for my actions. I was baptized when I was eight. I feel so blessed to know that my family & I can be together forever. When I was 2, my family had the opportunity to go to the Washington D.C. temple & we were sealed for time & eternity. During 9/11, my mom & my dad were both in the military. My mom was in the Pentagon during the attacks & my dad was away on a trip. At the time, I didn't realize how close I was to losing my mom, but now I feel so blessed to have the knowledge that I have an eternal family. Even if my mom had been killed that day, I would still be able to be with her forever. I have a strong testimony of the scriptures. They have been such a big comfort in my life. I love being able to read what the prophets have written down for us in this generation & the words of my Savior in the scriptures. They give me comfort & guidance in times of need. I have a testimony of our modern day prophets & of their divine appointment & inspiration. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet & that the Book of Mormon is the word of God for our generation; it is truly another testament of Christ. I know that I am a daughter of God & that everyone has divine worth, regardless of any discriminating factor. I know that God loves me & that he loves everyone. I believe that everyone deserves to be treated kindly. I am so glad that I know my divine worth & I want nothing more than for everyone to know of everything they are capable of because of our divine heritage. I have a testimony of the divine purpose of the Atonement & of Jesus Christ. For awhile after I moved back to Colorado, I had no friends. The only people I had to lean on were my mother & the Savior. He became my comforter, counselor, & best friend. I know that through his sacrifice & the Atonement that I can be forgiven & live with my Heavenly Father forever.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am the leader for all of the girls 16-18. I help plan weekly and monthy activities for us to do. I attend meetings so I can stay organized and recieve help from our adult leaders. I often take suggestions from girls in my age group to give to my leaders or relay information to my girls from my leaders. As the leader of girls from 16-18, I often conduct meetings with all the girls 12-18. Through my calling as a youth leader, my love for others has grown.
