Hi I'm Jacob

I am from Mesa, AZ and am a 4th generation florist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have 4 wonderful children. I own a flower shop with my brother which has been in the family since 1927. I graduated college with a business management degree. I served a Mormon mission in London England and love their food! I like to spend time with family. My hobby is playing online games and golfing. My interests are my church, family, and church music. I also enjoy sports and love to watch ball games with my family. One of my sons has Cystic Fibrosis and my wife and I attend regular support group meetings.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon and so I was raised in the church. But I really wasn't coverted until I was about 14 or 15 years old. I was reading the Book of Mormon (reference Alma 37:36-37) when the Holy Spirit whispered to me that I needed to pray more to my Heavenly Father. I began to pray regularly, morning and night. I began to read the holy scriptures regularly and to ponder them deeply. I also started a journal to record my thoughts and feelings. As I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father I came to realize that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. After praying one particular night for forgiveness of my sins I felt my guilt go away. It was as if a heavy burden was taken off my shoulders and I felt forgiven of my sins. I know Heavenly Father lives and loves me. I know His Son Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and Redeemer. I love the Lord Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon and feeling the Holy Spirit while reading the Book of Mormon changed my life. I have grown to love my Savior more deeply because of the Book of Mormon. By reading the Book of Mormon I know also that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's Church.

How I live my faith

I always strive to follow the Savior Jesus Christ and His example. I love to read about Him in the New Testement. I pray and study the scriptures often. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has given me many opportunities to serve others. I visit people in my congretation regularly to share and study the gospel with them. I've been able to teach Sunday School to the youth and share my witness of the Savior with them. I've been able to coordinate and participate in many community service projects. I've been blessed to see how my donations to my congregation directly help those in financial need. But I think my faith has helped more to help me raise a family. As all parents know our example and actions are what teach our children the most. And I want my children to know that I love my Savior and His church. So I strive to follow my Savior's example of love and service so that my children will also know that Jesus Christ is their Savior.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes, husbands and wives can be together forever. I would hate to think that the love I share with my wife was only til 'death do us part.' Heavenly Father always intended for husbands and wives to be together forever. Because in the 'Resurrection they neither marry or are given in marriage' (see Matt 22:25). The time to be married eternally, or forever, has to done while on earth. God has provided a way for men and women to be married eternally. Such marriages are done in sacred Temples, like the one in Salt Lake City, Utah. In temples, priesthood holders marry men and women eternally. This authority to marry people eternally is often called the 'Sealing Power' by Mormons. This 'authority' or 'power' was given to the Apostle Peter in the New Testement when Jesus declared to him "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven..." (see Matt 16: 19). These keys of the kingdom of heaven have been restored to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My wife and I were married eternally in the Mesa, AZ temple, I know that our marriage will last forever. Show more Show less
