Hi I'm John Baldwin

I'm a Christian and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....or better known as a 'Mormon'.

About Me

I am a husband and father of 4 beautiful kids. I am living the fast paced life of a parent of 3 teenagers and a 10 year old baby girl. My oldest is preparing to serve his mission in Richmond Virginia, child #2 is currently studying at BYU-Idaho, child #3 is a sophomore in high school and my baby is in 4th grade. To say the least, they consume my life and I would not want it any other way!!! My interests include spending my spare time with my wife and kids and being in the outdoors. I love to camp, hunt, fish, play sports and I love competition of any kind. Some of the best memories I have as a parent are hunting with my boys and seeing my girls reel in their first fish. I grew up playing baseball and had the opportunity to play in high school and college. Playing baseball tought me the importance of teamwork and dedication. To this day my closest and most dear friends are my old teammates. I work as a Project Manager in the commercial construction industry. I have been blessed throughout my life with work and good people around me in the workplace. My motto in life is "You can be smart and happy or stupid and miserable, its your choice" Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley

Why I am a Mormon

I can honestly say that up until the age of 19, I was a Mormon because I was brought up that way and didn't know any different. It wasn't until I decided to serve a mission for the church that I actually had to find out for myself why I was a member of this church. This decision to serve a mission was not forced upon me it was solely my decision. I was actually set on not serving a mission and pursuing playing baseball. At that time I came to the conclusion that my life was not going the way I wanted it to go. After much thought and the influence of a very special person in my life, who later became my wife, I felt very strongly that I needed to make a change in my spiritual life. Once I committed to start living a more spiritual life and including God in my life is when I realized that I must go out and serve him by giving up just 2 years of my life in his service. That completely changed my life. I came to know my Savior Jesus Christ and what it really was that he did for each of us....suffered and died for all, so that we may have the chance to return and live with God again. I am a devoted Christian, with Christian values, I love my Savior and I know that He lives!!! I have a Heavenly Father that knows me personally and I love Him!! I am grateful and I LOVE this Church! It has tought me the importance of serving and loving our neighbors. It has helped me give my children a strong foundation and belief in God and Jesus Christ. Raising kids is tough in the world we live in but with the Gospel and its teachings, it makes it much easier!!!

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church is not just a 1 hour committment on Sunday's. It is a true committment. I have served in a number of various callings from being a Scoutmaster, youth leader, Sunday School teacher and many other callings. The beauty of the Church is we help and teach each other. There is no paid ministry within the Church. Some of the greatest joy I have found has been when I have been in the service of others. I have learned that it is true that, "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God".
