Hi I'm Jason

I know God is our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is our Savior. I'm a missionary in New Jersey to share this. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of four children. I lived in the Bay Area of California until I was ten years old. My family moved to Utah and has lived there ever since. I went to a year of college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the New Jersey Morristown Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have taught me and my siblings about the Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ ever since I was very young. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it helps me to be a better person and learn how to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ and live His teachings. His teachings provide hope and comfort when life gets difficult and also gives me the knowledge to where I came from, why I am here and where I'm going after this life.

How I live my faith

Many people talk about "Practice what you preach". We believe every bit of that. During the summer before my service as a missionary of the Church I taught Sunday School each week where we talked about the scriptures, the lessons we can learn from them and how we can apply those principles to our lives so we can pattern ourselves after the Great Redeemer and Savior of all mankind, even Jesus Christ. I try to watch for the needs of people that I interact with and see how I can help them to have a better day as I try to follow Christ's example of comforting "those that stand in need of comfort". As a missionary I have the opportunity to talk with many people every day. I share what I know to be true with them about Jesus Christ and His doctrines. When I teach these principles to others it helps me to realize how I can better apply them to my own life. I firmly believe that people who share what they know to be true not only help themselves appreciate their beliefs more, but they also help others learn how the Gospel of Jesus Christ can benefit them too.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Yes, we believe Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God. "Mormons" is a nickname given to the Church because of the "Book of Mormon", however the official title of the Church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints". Our entire religion is based around Jesus Christ and the things He did during His mortal ministry. We believe He was the only perfect human being to ever live on the earth and because of that was able to perform the Atonement where He took upon himself all the sins, pains, afflictions and illnesses of the world so that we can find comfort, strength and forgiveness if we accept Him as our Savior and allow the power of His atonement to work in our lives. We must repent of sins in order to be forgiven, merely declaring that we believe in Him is not enough. We also believe that Jesus Christ was resurrected three days after His death on the cross. Since Christ was resurrected and overcame the bands of death we believe all people who have lived, now live or will in the future live on the earth, will also receive the gift of resurrection after this life which means that our spirits and bodies will be re-united at a point in time after our deaths and we will become immortal. I'd like to echo what the Prophet Joseph Smith said, everything that we believe in addition to the life, divinity and Atonement of Jesus Christ are only appendages to our religion. What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". Scriptures are the teachings of prophets, and prophets in the Old World (or the current day Middle East) wrote many of their teachings which make up what we now know as the Bible. However, God is no respecter of persons. For that very reason He also called prophets in the Americas in ancient times as well. Their writings are contained in the Book of Mormon. About 400 years after the coming of Christ, one of these ancient prophets, named Mormon, took many records that had been written over the course of a thousand years and abridged them into what makes up the majority of the Book of Mormon. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the nickname "the Mormons". This nickname comes from the Book of Mormon which gets its name from the prophet Mormon. My favorite part of the Book of Mormon is when Christ Himself appears and ministers to the people in the Americas shortly after His Resurrection. He taught them His gospel, such as how to have faith and perform baptism, and established His church among them. Not only does the Book of Mormon contain the promise that anyone, and everyone, who reads it can gain a confirmation of its truthfulness, but it can also help us with many of the trials and challenges we face in life. As we read in the Book of Mormon we can find answers from the eternal truths taught by prophets of God who testify of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
