Hi I'm Heidi

I grew up in Colorado. I love people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Heidi and I love being a Mormon. I'm a wife and a mom to an 18-month-old little boy. I love being a mom! I worked in federal consulting before I had my son and I'm really happy I can stay home with him. I really love my family. I have four sisters (no brothers!) and an awesome mom and dad. I also love being outside and spending time with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! One of the most important books in my life is the Book of Mormon. I learn so much about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ from this book. It brings peace to my heart and answers to my questions when I study it. The Gospel of Jesus Christ also helps me ground my life. Sometimes I feel pulled in many different directions, but each day I take time to come back to what needs to be the center of my life: Jesus Christ. I do this by praying, reading the scriptures, and listening to the words of our prophets today. Having constant access to peace has been a huge blessing for me and it also helps me to prioritize what is really important.

How I live my faith

One thing I love about being a Mormon is that it gives me a chance to serve in my congregation. Right now I help out in the children's class with kids ages 18 months to three years old. The person I volunteer with is a former preschool teacher and a total rockstar mom. Its been a blessing to learn from her, especially since I'm a new mom myself. I also love how happy and trusting all the little kids are. They make me feel so loved! Another thing I do in my congregation is help plan events and get togethers for the women. We have events once a month and I like thinking of ways to help the women learn, feel loved, and have fun. Our congregation is a mix of many women doing different things and I have become friends with a lot of women I might not have had the opportunity to get to know otherwise. Helping and spending time with people is important to me, and being a Mormon gives me lots of opportunities to do both.

What is faith?

One of my favorite ways to think about faith is as the power to change myself or my circumstances. The Book of Mormon missionary Amulek talks about "faith unto repentance". Faith means that I have the desire and the hope of being something different or having a different circumstance for myself or someone else. Repentance means that I return to God, or change. So when I have faith unto repentance, I have a seed of desire that as I nourish with my works (faith), will bring about great change in my life (repentance). Coupled with Christ's grace, I know that I can do or be anything that Heavenly Father desires me to do or be. Show more Show less
