Hi I'm Ashley Stokes.

I'm Mormon. I am from Idaho. I want to be a physician´s assistant. I am currently a missionary, and I love it!

About Me

Hi! My name is Ashley. I am 22 years old. I like to read and write. I like to run, and I am hoping to work up to a marathon someday. I love to play piano, and I LOVE music. I have taken a recent interest in art, and I really enjoy drawing and working with oil pastels. I want to be a physician's assistant someday. I have been studying English and biochemistry. I am a college student. Well, I WAS a college student. :) In just under a year, I will have the opportunity to go back and finish by Bachleor's degree, but for now, I am serving as a missionary. I am in Laredo, Texas, and I am excited about the opportunity I have to learn and preach the gospel in Spanish!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the gospel. My testimony has developed greatly over the years, and has been such a blessing to me throughout my life. This gospel is the greatest gift that I have ever been given, and I am so excited to share its blessings with others. I have such a testimony of the Savior and his Atonement. I know that Jesus Christ suffered the sins of the world and died that we might be saved. It doesn't matter what we have done--if we are willing to repent and submit ourselves to the Lord, we can be made whole again. I know it is only through Christ's atonement that we can be clean and live in the presence of our loving Heavenly Father again. I know that we can be with our families again after death. I love my family dearly, and this knowledge means everything to me. I know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In a world of shifting values, he can be our rock and our anchor. Listen to the words of the prophets, who are the mouthpiece of our Father in Heaven. I know that there is a prophet in the world today, and his name is Thomas S. Monson. He is inspired and offers guidance for all of us. The heavens are not closed, and miracles DO happen in the world today. I know that the fulness of the gospel of Christ was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. The power of the priesthood--the authority to act in the name of God on earth--has been restored. Through the power of the priesthood, we can make covenants with God that will allow us to draw closer to Him in this life and the next. I know that The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I believe that it is the most correct book on earth, and it is another testament of the divinity and the love of Jesus Christ. I treasure its words and pages. I would invite any who doubt their testimony to read The Book of Mormon and to pray and ask God if it is not true. I testify that it is the word of God, and that it is true. I know that this church is true. I testify of it in Christ's name.

How I live my faith

I am currently a full-time missionary. I LOVE it! Missionaries have the unique opportunity to devote all of their time and energy to building up the kingdom of God on earth. However, I know that missionary work extends beyond the time we serve full time, and I am excited for the opportunity I will have to continue helping others find Christ when I return home. I also strive to live my faith through example. I am definitely not perfect, but I try to show others that I care about Jesus Christ by doing the things that he asks us to do. I have a huge testimony of daily scripture study and prayer. I know that it is through these small things that we build our foundation of faith. I also have a testimony of weekly church attendance. I know that this commandment, like all of the commandments, was given to us for our own benefit. As I have gone each week, I have felt my testimony grow and strengthen.
