Hi I'm Devin

I was born and raised in Arizona. I spent two amazing years on a Caribbean Island. I have more hobbies than you. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In high school I was in the choir, the band playing the trumpet, cross country, track and field as a pole vaulter, and left for one hour every day to a class of religion off campus called seminary. I served a mission for my church for two years in the best area I could have hoped for; the Dominican Republic. There I learned Spanish, fell in love with the Dominican people and their culture, and made hundreds of good friends. I have a wonderful wife with two wonderful children that keep us on our toes constantly. We also recently found out that we have one on the way. I am currently taking college courses online and have changed my major from business to film to creative writing, and now it's back to business. I am a clown. I juggle, do balloon animals, walk on stilts, and do magic tricks. I make movies for fun, write songs in my spare time, play the piano and guitar, and photoshop everything. I have written a fantasy book, a full length feature script, and even a musical play. I'm a Mac, not a PC, and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually born into the church. I grew up knowing that Jesus Christ was my savior and had many friends with the same knowledge and values. It wasn't until I was in high school that I realized that I couldn't know that this was the only true restored gospel on this earth merely because my parent said so. I needed to find out for myself. I had learned that the prophet Joseph Smith prayed to asked which church was true after reading in James 1:5 that "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God. I had read in the Book of Mormon where it said that if we "ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these thing are not true... with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth unto (us) by the power of the Holy Ghost" (Moroni 10:4). I knew that I needed to ask God to know for myself. I knelt and prayed and received the best answer I could have received. I undeniably felt the spirit testify that I had always known the truth of the gospel and that there was not a single doctrine that did not come directly from God through his servants the prophets. Since that time I have had many confirmations of the truth of this gospel and have helped others come to the same conclusions. This was done by inviting them in the exact way I will now invite you, and in the same way the two previously mentioned prophets James and Moroni invites each of us. "I would exhort you that ye would ask God."

How I live my faith

I am currently the Young Men's President, which means I get to over see the youth and their leaders to make sure their needs are met and that they have a good program to enjoy activities together. With that also comes a calling to help in the Boy Scout program. I am currently helping with a group of Venture Scouts, many of which are close to receiving their Eagle Scout Award. I learn so much from today's youth and find joy in their faith and energy. I also visit the houses of nearby family members as a program to help strengthen each other in this church.
