Hi I'm Barb

I'm a Mormon. I'm proud of my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love Jesus & try to be like him.

About Me

I work for the state I live in. I enjoy helping other people. I have raised 3 children, but have borne 4. Adoption is a wonderful thing. I enjoy playing piano. I have earned 2 college degrees, one in social work and one in special education. I have a yorkie dog and 3 fluffy cats. I was married, but sadly after 14 yrs that ended. So I became a single mom. Life is a gift from God and I appreciate that more every day. I Iove my kids, my pets, and my friends. I really enjoy being active in church.

Why I am a Mormon

I married at a young age. About two years in, it was looking like that might end( a lot of teen marriages do) and I had a beautiful baby girl to think of. My husband's employer was a Mormon. He was sad at work and she asked why and he told her of our troubles. She asked if he would like to have missionaries come to visit us because her church believed strongly in families and would like to help us. Next thing I know there are two young men, in suits, knocking at our door. We let them in to talk with us. We listened and invited them back. During these visits, when talking about the Holy Ghost and the Book of Mormon, I felt powerful things in my heart & soul that are still difficult to adequately describe 21 years later. I knew the things they were saying were true. I felt it. I knew it. The only thing left for me to do was to get my life in order. Within 3 weeks my husband & I were baptized. My life has never been the same again. It has been so much better. Over the years I have had many wonderful experiences and blessings that I would not have had without my membership in the church. God, the Father & Christ, the Son, do truly have plans for each of us in this life. Their plan is not always what we think our plan is, but it is so much better. I love the temple and appreciate the privilege I have had to go there. When there, it is the happiest I have ever been in my life. Every day brings a new blessing.

How I live my faith

I Attend church meetings every Sunday. I conduct the music for the sacrament meeting hymns. I Also play piano hymns for the women's meeting. I have taught Sunday School lessons to teens and to young children. I have helped arrange wholesome, fun, and faith promoting activities for single adults in church. I read scriptures and pray to bring more peace into my life. I listen to christian pop music to uplift me while I'm driving in my car. I visit with a few ladies in my church in their homes once a month to help share friendship, and an uplifting gospel message and to check and see if they have any unmet needs I can help with. I am honest and kind with other people I meet.
