Hi I'm James Ballard

I was born and raised in Snowflake AZ. I grew up on a farm. I love to meet people from all over the world, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family of 9 boys, and I was the eighth. I had a fantastic childhood, full of fun and the great out doors as my playground.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always believed in God since I was a child. When I prayed I just felt that someone was listening. This was the first step, and everything is build upon it. I was raised by loving parents who taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I felt the gospel was true, I believed it was true, and it made me feel wonderful to live it. So I did. However, one can only go on for so long on borrowed light, and when I served my mission to Belgium, this became painfully clear. How could I testify of the truth of this Gospel, and help others to come to KNOW that it was true if I didn't know for myself? I had to know, and so I took the promise found in Moroni 10:3-5 and I applied it. I sought with real intent, willing to base my life on the outcome of the answer that I received. With all my heart I wanted to know if it was true, and I had faith that my Father would help me to know if the work I was doing was TRUE. In the quiet of the night as I knelt by my bed, I poured out my soul to know if the Book of Mormon was true, and I received an answer. I know its true, and no power or influence can take that knowledge away from me. I sought out other testimonies of what is true. Modern prophets, the reality of Jesus Christ's Atonement and Resurrection, even the importance of individual principles, and I came to know that all of them are true. This knowledge has proved a foundation for my life. I know what is true in this world of shifting values and priorities. I know there is a divine plan for me. I know why my family brings me the most joy, because we are an eternal unit, one that can be together forever. I know what I want and who I am and what is truly going to bring me real happiness. It is not going to be found in drugs, or alcohol or living a "modern" life style. It is going to be found in doing what is right, and virtuous. Is it the easy path? NO, and it never will be, but I will have become something wonderful in the journey.

How I live my faith

I love Church. I love the peace it gives me each week, and I love the chance to serve others. A wise man once told me, " I found out long ago, that my happiness is based on how I treat those around me". I believe this to be true and so I serve in my church, and visit those who are struggling. It really makes me feel that I am part of something bigger than myself when I help out those in need, and learn together with those who are in my church. The feeling of being a part of a world wide family is just so cool!!! I've been in churches on the other side of the world, and they felt like home. Why? Because we are all going in the same direction, and Christ is our Master and King. He leads this church and his servants the Apostles and the President of the Church are called by Him.
