Hi I'm Javier

I’m an Argentine. I am a father. I am a husband. I am a plumber. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up Catholic. Very active in the church when I was young (I was an altar boy) until I was 13 or 14 fyears old. The temptations of the world were very attractive to me as a teenager, and being a little rebellious, I followed my own decisions without accepting advice from anybody, neither from God. I asked myself, “Why did he need to rule my life?” I went down and down until I reached the point that I needed to humble myself and start looking up. I tried to find God again. I went to different churches looking for what I needed. I tried to fill that emptiness I had in my soul.

Why I am a Mormon

A week before I came to the U.S., my friend’s mother gave me the Book of Mormon. She said to me, “The missionaries visited me but I wasn’t interested. This book will help you with your life.” I accepted the book, but didn’t pay attention and I left the book in Argentina in my Mom’s house and I took my Bible with me. I came to this country in August 15, 2001. A couple of weeks before 9/11. My ticket to return to Argentina was for the night of 9/11. I stayed here for a bit longer and my girlfriend at the time came here also. After 2 or 3 months we broke up. I went to live in an apartment by myself and I was very sad. I tried to read the Bible but the tears in my eyes didn’t let me read very well. I was very sad and I asked God to help me with all my soul. I prayed like never before in my life. That night I had a dream the whole night, the same dream. I woke twice and returned to sleep and the dream returned. I saw two persons coming to rescue me, dressed in white shirts and ties. The next day the feeling I had for my ex-girlfriend had disappeared completely – like I had never known her. Two days later the missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints knocked on my door and gave me another Book of Mormon. I read it in one month and I got baptized on June 1st, 2002.

How I live my faith

I know this is the true of Jesus Christ. I try to obey all his commandments. I repent as fast as I can when I do something wrong in order to have true happiness in my life with my family.
