Hi I'm Cindy

I live in Cape Town, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in South Africa my entire life, and I absolutely love it. I am currently studying English, Linguistics and Maths, with the intention of teaching high school when I'm done. I am a member of the Ballroom and Latin Dancing Society at my university, and am also a member of one of the choirs there. I grew up in a big family, and I want nothing more than to have a family of my own one day.

Why I am a Mormon

My father grew up in the church, and my mother got baptized a few years before marrying him. They have always been a great example to me, with their strong faith and testimonies, and their undying love for each other, and for the Saviour. They taught all of us children, right from a young age, that we should find out for ourselves if the Gospel is true. I never really understood what that meant until I was a teenager, but now I am extremely grateful for that encouragement. I have read my scriptures, listened to our leaders, prayed about the Gospel, and discovered that it is true. About a year ago, I found myself questioning the Gospel again, but through prayer, scripture study, and faith in the Lord, I have managed to develop a testimony that is stronger than it has ever been.

How I live my faith

I play the organ in Sacrament meetings (that's when everybody meets together), I play and sing in our ward choir, and I am also serving in Primary. I love the opportunities that I am presented with to teach the Gospel to those around me. I have also been able to find myself being a missionary this year as I have started doing ballroom dancing. As it is very difficult to find clothing that is suitable for dancing in, it can be very tempting to take the first thing that you find, even if it is immodest. However, when I have been unable to find modest clothing to dance in, I have adjusted the clothes myself, by adding sleeves, raising the neckline, lengthening the skirt, etc. This, and the fact that I do not dance on Sundays, has been a great way of being an example of what I believe.
