Hi I'm Yanos

I love walking in the lakes and eating pizza. I'm a doctor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been living and working in Leeds, England for about a year now, before that, I lived in Birmingham. I went to university to study medicine in St Andrews and then in Manchester. I love spending time out in the countryside where I can feel a peace that I don't often feel with the hustle and bustle of the daily grind.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was fifteen I was first introduced to the church by a friend of my mum. The missionaries came to my house and taught my family. As they taught us, I took time to consider their teachings; I felt that there could be some truth to what they were saying. I wanted to know for myself if it was true. The missionaries shared with me a passage from the Book of Mormon; Moroni 10: 3-5, which stated that if I was sincere in my desire to know, I could ask God. Through prayer and reading I found out the truth of their message - Christ lives and has called a prophet in this age. Since then I have had many experiences which have confirmed to me that this message was from God.

How I live my faith

Since my baptism when I was 15 I have strived to live the commandments of God, and through the odd mistake I have found a great degree of peace and forgiveness in the Saviour's gospel message. I currently serve as the Ward Mission Leader in my local congregation. This involves meeting with the missionaries and determining how to best help the individuals they come into contact with. It also means seeking opportunities to share the joy which my testimony of Jesus Christ has brought to me and encouraging others to do the same. I find that I can draw closer to my Saviour by reading his teachings in the scriptures and praying to him. I know he answers prayers as he has answered mine.
