Hi I'm Rachel

I'm adopted. I'm from Texas. I'm on an LDS Mission in Fresno and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love going to the lake with friends and family. I've wakeboarded/skiied since I was 6 years old. I am studying to be an art education teacher. My family is whats makes me who I am. my mom is a Professor, my sister is a Photographer, her husband is a accountant and my dad deals with Information systems. The arts and other cultural events have been a big part of my life. I am a normal girl who loves art. I love to go on trips with my family to be with them and to make memories. I am the proudest aunt ever! I have 2 twin nephews; Kingston and London and and a niece; Brighton, on the way. I am currently on a LDS mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life, even with its long name, because I know for myself the name means much more than a title. Its who I am. I am a latter-day saint of the Church of Christ, his true church. I know this because I have read the most correct book on this earth: The Book of Mormon. When I was younger, I couldnt understand some things, okay most things, But I had faith that If I did everything I was asked and did everything I knew to do, I'd be able to do/overcome anything. My conversion story isn't about me finding the gospel for the first time, it is finding it again and again. I decided to serve a 18-month LDS mission. It was on my own that I realized this is what I wanted and needed to do. I did everything I could to prepare, but even though I had faith and a knowledge of things, it still wasn't good enough. Every-month, It felt like, something wrong kept happening, almost as if I wasn't ''meant to'' go on a mission. It wasnt easy, because lets face it life is not easy, even for members who have the truth. We dont know everything. LIfe doesnt come easier for us, but we have the reassurance that Jesus christ knows what we are going through. Everyone does. So I kept trying and I finally made it to the missionary training Center( missionary camp), Its the only place i'd want to be right now. This is where I gained my testimony( knowledge) of why I am going on a mission. I've come to realize that God isn''t going to give you something without you putting in ALL your effort. He gave us agency and so of course he wants us to use it. Our time on earth is so limited to forget why we are here. I know I am a child of God and that I lived with him before I was on this earth, and that through the plan of salvation( happiness) I can RETURN to live with him. when ever I am sad, I realize I have no reason to be because I have been given so much.

How I live my faith

Well I am serving a LDS mission. It's the greatest way to serve. Jesus Christ set the bar so high and is my example to live my life. He served everyone, yes he preformed miracles, but he blessed and helped EVERYONE. He had love and faith and charity. So I serve so that I can have love, faith and charity for everyone I meet. My purpose statement as a missionary and really for everyone on earth is: to invite others to come unto christ and recieve the restored gospel. That's what I get to do everyday, But its only through faith in Jesus Christ. He is central to our plan on earth and why we are here.
