Hi I'm Sheila Stewart

I am a mother of 9 children; grandmother to 43, and 5 greats! Fred & I have lived in Snowflake, Arizona all of our married life.

About Me

I was born of goodly parents. I am the oldest of 10 children. My parents had 8 daughters and then 2 sons. I graduated from Snowflake High School, graduated with an A of A at EAJC, graduated from ASC in Flagstaff with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I married a great man, James F. Stewart, in the Mesa AZ Temple. I taught Jr. High School a year in Snowflake the year before the Junior High School was built. All of our family live out of state, so we travel to see them--for Baby Blessings, Baptisms, Marriages, Eagle Scout Court of Honors, & Graduations, if possible. I helped when grand babies arrived. It is always fun to be with family members. I make and play paper airplanes, make snowflakes, and play with rockets with grandchildren. We have a family reunion every year; our children take turns being in charge. I like keeping my grandmother's posterity up-to-date. I print out Family Group sheets, Alphabetical & Chronological lists, Birthday Calendars, Eagle Scout Nest, YW Recognition & Missionary charts. I like keeping in touch with relatives & friends by phone, email, texting & facebook. We raise a garden every year. I like to eat nutritiously, so I freeze fruit & vegetables to make blender drinks. I like making homemade whole wheat bread. I have enjoyed doing my church callings through the years. We write a yearly letter to family & friends. We enjoy going to our church meetings & listening to General Conference talks. Last year I made each family member a duct tape wallet.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me the principles of the Gospel by precept and by example. I know that Jesus is our Savior and Redeemer and that he atoned for our sins and afflictions. We can ask Him to help us. We do our best and then He will help us with the rest. He has given me strength from time to time--every day actually--and good health so that I can accomplish the things I need to accomplish and to help others. I am so grateful to know the Truth. He is my light and the Holy Ghost comforts me in my sorrows and challenges. I am thankful that I know the purpose of life. I want to Be a Light to Others. There is a lot to do in this life, no matter what age we are. I am thankful to know what is important and what we should give priority in our lives. I know the Book of Mormon is another great witness of our Savior, Jesus Christ. If we want to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, we will live the principles of the Gospel and we will know that it is the True Church on the earth. I have tested the principles of Fasting, Tithing, Honesty, Forgiveness, Kindness, Church Attendance, Reverence, Family Home Evening, Personal & Family Prayer & Scripture Study, Family Unity, Years Supply, Following our Prophet, Listening to and reading General Conference Talks, Retiring to bed and Rising early, Sustaining our local and general Church Leaders, Loving Everyone. It is the Happy Way to Live. I am thankful I have a wonderful husband who loves me & who honors his priesthood.

How I live my faith

I enjoy fasting 24 hours monthly. I like to read the Book of Mormon at least 15 minutes a day before I get on the computer. It is fun to listen to scriptures and Conference talks while I do housework. We say family prayers twice a day, and we have family home evening on Monday night. Since it is just my husband and me at home, we listen to one or two General Conference talks and have refreshments. I write a daily journal. I strive to keep the Sabbath Days holy. It helps me a lot to do these things. Saying my personal prayers gives me comfort and peace. I use Ancestral Quest to update our family records, and this brings me joy--to record the important things in each person's life. It is also a good reference. I go there to see their phone number, address, where they served their mission, etc. I enjoyed being the birthday lady for a year in our ward. I enjoyed the years that I taught primary children. I liked being the ward website administrator. It was rewarding to be the advancement scout chairman for many years. I like visiting with people. There are 8 of us grandmothers who walk every weekday morning. It is a good exercise & social activity (5 of them are widows). I enjoy visiting teaching. We work on getting a year's supply. One of my favorite things is to make whole wheat bread and to give a loaf away each time. I cut friends' hair since it makes them happy and we have a fun visit. We love serving in the Snowflake Temple at least 2 days a week.
