Hi I'm Dawn.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Los Angeles, California. I am married to my best friend, Dave. We are both converts to our faith. We have 6 amazing children (all adopted!). Our oldest son is currently serving a full-time mission in Indiana. I teach English at a university. My husband works in the IT industry. We LOVE chips and salsa, going to the beach, and spending time with our family. (And I'm on an American TV show called *Survivor Caramoan and Survivor South Pacific this year. *Where I was first runner-up for the million dollar prize. Tee hee.)

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up, I was always drawn to faithful people. I think that's probably because I had a lot of questions about the purpose of life (Where did I come from? Where am I going?)--and the friends I had who were religious seemed to have a lot of peace over those questions. So when I turned 18, I began attending different churches--all different faiths--looking for that peace in my life. Having been around a number of Mormons growing up, I knew I'd always be welcome in a Mormon church. But, surprisingly, I didn't attend a Mormon church service until I'd been to about 7 or 8 other churches. So, what made me consider the Mormon faith? Well, originally, it had to do with the people I'd met and the way I felt when I attended church, prayed, or read the scriptures. And, I think much of it had to do with the influence of some incredible members, too. Their lives, their kindness, their examples, made me want to consider learning more about the gospel. SO, through a series of AWESOME events, I was introduced to the Gospel Of Jesus Christ, began attending church, and eventually became an official member when I was almost 20. It's been two decades since I made the decision to be baptized and pattern my life after the life of Jesus Christ--and I can honestly say, that decision has been THE greatest decision I've made with my life. Why? Because as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have a clearer sense of who I am. A better understanding of my purpose in life. I feel a great sense of connectedness to other people. And, most importantly, I feel the peace I'd always been looking for. I'm so thankful I'm a Mormon. 8)

How I live my faith

I try my best to live each day with joy. I try my best to live each day putting others before myself. And I try my best each day to be forgiving of others--and myself. That's how I live my faith. It's a life-long commitment, and a life-long practice. (In addition to attending regular church services and weekly activities/programs, my husband and I currently teach the 4 year-old Sunday School class in our ward/congregation. This is THE BEST teaching opportunity I can think of, and I look forward to it each week. I learn so much from those toddlers.)
