Hi I'm Ray

You can find me anytime of the year as Santa. In July you'll find me in Come Home to Kanesville. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Born in Lovell, Wyoming, moved to Phoenix Arizona when 5 and was raised there. Served a mission starting in the Manitoba/Minnesota Mission, and returning from the Rapid City South Dakota Mission. Married shortly after my mission and just after joining the US Air Force. While in the Air Force, spent time at Lackland AFB TX, Lowry AFB, Colorado. Our first two children born there. Our third child born while serving at Bitburg AFB, in Germany. Other children followed at Mather AFB, California and Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Following my Air Force career, we all moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where the last two of my children were born. Being a computer programmer brought me to Council Bluffs. Lived here for more than 26 years. My wife got me started acting in 1988. When I was in the barbershop quartet in "The Music Man". Since then I've played that role two other times and have been in several other musicals in the local area. My favorite show now is the Winter Quarter Pageant, "Come Home to Kanesville", which is staged the end of July in the Kanesville Tabernacle. I've truly enjoyed the on stage experiences. They have taught me to be more outgoing and have confidence in myself. In 2010 I started as a professional Santa Claus. I have even gone to Professional Santa Claus School in Denver to learn to "Be Santa".

Why I am a Mormon

Having grown up in the church, I didn't have to find the Gospel, but like anybody else I had to find out for myself if it is true. Didn't do that until I was on my mission and decided if I was going to ask someone else to find out if the church is true that I must know for myself. So I did what Moroni challenges us to do, that was to ask. (Moroni 10:4-5). After doing so I had an overwhelming confirmation that the church is true. I've also had to ask again at different points in my life. Not that I didn't have a testimony but it needed to be strengthened. Lately I've been blessed with the confirmation that my Savior loves me and wants me to return to His presence. This last year (2011) of "Come Home to Kanesville" the month of July was a true blessing to me while witnessing numerous blessings of the Lord.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend church. Three hours each Sunday. I am involved in my church callings currently I teach two or more times a month. Many ancestors of mine were converts to the church and as I read about their experiences I feel the love they had for the Savior and His Gospel. Some of my relatives lived in the same part of Iowa. My wifes ancestors also were in this area not far from our current home. I am blessed to have had good parents who taught by example how to treat others. Writing to my children while they are serving as missionaries has also strengthened my testimony.
