Hi I'm Mickey

I grew up in rural Arizona. I'm a huge Yankees fan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town. My Grandfather was a rancher so we grew up riding horses and hauling hay. I love sports of virtually all types. I've run three marathons and still run slowly 3-4 times a week. I have a lovely wife and a couple outstanding daughters that I am very proud of each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church. My father was never active in the church and my mother was very active and alway took me and my four younger brothers to church and primary each week. Having seen the blessings of the gospel in my family's life, my testimony of the truthfulness of the church grew. While in my youth I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I received an answer with a warm, clear peace to my mind that it was true. I have continued to receive answers to my prayers throughout my life in this same manner. As I ask my Father in Heaven for direction, thoughts and inspiration flood my mind accompanied by a feeling of peace which confirms the truthfulness of these answers. I know that my Savior, Jesus Chris, is my elder brother and loved us so much that he came to earth and showed us the way to live and serve to learn and grow and prepare to return to live with him and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is founded on Service and Growth. The way I live my faith is by following the adminision in James 2:17-18, which states "Faith without works is dead. It is through our works that we show our true faith. I serve the members of our congregation (ward) and neighborhood by providing service through many ways: Helping with the youth Providing assistance when others are in need Being a good neighbor and watching out for them and their property Being honest and trustworthy in my interactions Finally, by being a good friend.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

I believe some people call Mormonism a cult for two reasons: 1) They don't know what Mormons believe and know that they are different in some beliefs and acts, so they classify anything unknow or potentially different than themselves as a cult. 2) Most members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or Mormons actively live their faith. This includes fulfilling callings or assignments in the local church or ward such as being a Sunday School teacher, working with youth, or serving as Bishop or Pastor of the ward. This often requires a sacrafice of time and effort. Additionally, most mormons live the Word of Wisdom as part of our faith which includes not drinking, smoking or taking drugs. Since this is not the "norm" for the world many people classify it as different or a cult. Although dedication and service is a strong part of many other religions, Mormons dedication to living the commandments and teaching of the profits with strong dedication often makes us stand apart.
