Hi I'm Craig

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Wichita, KS, then moved to Denver, CO. I've lived here now for forty years.

About Me

I'm a father of two - a son, Jason, and a daughter, Christine. I have four grandchildren - three girls and one boy. I am a flyfisherman and like to watch movie. My wife is the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

The first reason I joined the church is that I believe young children go directly to heaven when they die. I used to have serious debates with a Catholic priest who said that you children went to purgatory at death. Mormons believe that children under the age of eight go directly to the Celestial Kingdom to live with God. Secondly and most importantly, while talking about the Mormon church to a Mormon that I worked with, one Saturday, I felt a "burning" in my chest like you hear about sometimes referred to as a "burning in the bosom". For the next two days I felt good about everything and everyone. I was ecstatic. It was at that moment that I decided I had to take the discussions about the church and be baptised as soon as possible. Thirdly, my wife who is Mormon and I were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the temple. That's important to me as otherwise we would only be married "until death do us part" per our wedding vows. It is a wonderful church. I was a Lutheran before but I am glad I am a Mormon. We try to "practice what we preach" seven days a week. Ours is a working church. We all have callings, such as teaching Sunday school, and all work for in service of our church and its memberships. The church does many humanitarian efforts in this country and around the world. We can food for us and other charitable organizations. The church has its own "welfare" system where we support our members in times of difficulty. I love this church. I hope you will check out some our beliefs.

How I live my faith

I have several callings. I work at our temple performing certain ordinances. I help clean the church ward that I belong to. I/we study the Old and New Testaments contrary to what some may say. We also study the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine & Covenants. We rotate studies of these four books every four years in Sunday school. We believe in the same God, Jesus Christ and Holy Ghost that all other Christians believe in. I am a High Priest and have duties to Home Teach certain families every month. At those monthly visits we discuss religious matters and discuss the families wellbeing. I am very proud of my church and my callings.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Quite simply, a husband and a wife are to love each other and their children. They are to teach religious principles of the Bible and Book of Mormon in their home. They are to teach their children by example and teach them to be self-reliant, virtuous, kind, honorable, helpful, loving and many, many other desirable virtues too many to list here.
