Hi I'm June

I grew up in New Westminster, B.C. Canada and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and the mother of 7 children and 10 grandchildren. I enjoy reading, sewing, baking bread, quilting and other crafts. I like to walk every morning and enjoy the beauties of this world's creation

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was widowed when I was 5 and my sister 6. We attended another church but my mother rented out the upstairs to 2 mormon missionaries. They were so good and kind and she started learning about this faith. I was baptized at age 8 and loved going to this new church. It had wonderful activities for the children and then as a teenager a great youth program. I did eventually read the Book of Mormon and as I studied and prayed I knew it was true. I have continued to read it and it brings such peace to my heart and answers so many questions that I have had. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. That this is the same church that existed years ago, with latter-day prophets and apostles.

How I live my faith

I look for opportunities to serve in the community and church and neighborhood. I am the president of the women's organization for an area in South Carolina. I have an opportunity each month to visit women and families to see how they are doing and if they need any help. I helped our women's organization collect 359 purses for a local women's shelter. I have crocheted over 300 baby hats for the humanitarian services. There are so many needs in the world today that I feel blessed to have the health and talents to do things for others.

What is the Relief Society?

It is a women's organization for all women 18 years and older. We are a support to all women in our various congregations to watch over each other and serve one another as well as strengthening families and homes. You become very close to many that will be friends all your life, even when you move to other areas. On Sunday's we meet together and have uplifting lessons. During the month other meetings are held where we learn to budget, cooking and sewing skills, living within our means, becoming prepared in case of emergency. We do many service projects within our communities. Show more Show less
