Hi I'm Jordan

I'm a desert-dweller. I'm father to a small army of boys. I like pie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love watching and playing sports. Basketball is my favorite, although I'm probably better at watching than playing :-). I like yard work and projects around the house because it gives me time to think and reflect. Occasionally, the things I fix actually stay fixed! Movies are another passion of mine and I appreciate the art of telling a good story that has a positive and meaningful message to it... or one that's just dang funny and makes me laugh. Most of my time is spent with family in one way or another. My wife is incredible in every way. She strengthens and inspires me. We have 4 children - all of which are boys. Needless to say, there is a lot of 'activity' in our home and never a dull moment. Family time is the best, most rewarding time for me and we have such a good time together. I love to learn and improve myself but I don't necessarily like school - I'm more of a hands-on kind of a guy. I also really enjoy learning and working with technology. I have the best job on the planet working for a software company that specializes in marketing and where I'm able to associate with some of the greatest people I've ever met.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Savior, Jesus Christ. I have faith in Him and in His teachings. The daily application of the teachings of Jesus Christ have brought a lot of joy and meaning to my life. The Bible is the first witness of the Savior and I believe in and treasure that book of scripture. The Book of Mormon also contains the teachings of Jesus Christ and it is a second witness of His divine role as our Savior in God's plan. I love the Book of Mormon and the spirit that comes when I read from it's pages. Together, the Book of Mormon and the Bible provide a complete picture of God's plan for his children. Part of God's pattern in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon is the way that He reveals truth to His children through prophets. We have a prophet of God upon the earth today who presides over this church. My life has been richly blessed through the words and example of modern-day prophets and apostles. God has not ceased to speak to his children upon the earth and I want those words of truth and of safety in my life and for my family. I'm a Mormon because of the clarity of faith and strengthened conviction that comes into my life when I apply ALL of the teachings of Jesus Christ. I'm so thankful for my personal relationship with Him and I've found that the Mormon church - the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - contains a fullness of His gospel.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving and helping in my community. I believe our youth need good role models and continual positive encouragement in today's world. Most recently, I coached two of my boys in a youth basketball league. We were the best 0-6 team ever to play the game :-) I also have the opportunity to manage the financial records of our local church. It's been awesome and quite humbling to see first-hand how the Lord blesses those in need through the service and charity of others.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

God himself has established the institute of marriage to be between a man and a woman. This is the model that He has set forth to bring children into this world. The family unit that was established by God works as He designed it to work and does not need to be changed or modernized. As with any part of God's plan, we can achieve long-lasting happiness and joy when we operate within the bounds that He has set. Whenever we go outside of the Lord's boundaries we need to repent.
