Hi I'm Lor

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life started with sort of a bang. I was born two months early and the doctor who delivered me also cut my umbilical cord too short. I was life flighted to an out of state hospital where my grandparents and great-grandmother happened to be there for a procedure of their own. It was a blessing and tender mercy that there was family there to meet me. Against pretty stiff odds and after months in an incubator I was able to go home. My parents were told there I would probably be mentally retarded. Today I'm a grown woman pursuing a health degree, work for a major corporation, and am definitely not mentally retarded. Now that you know what it a miracle it is that I'm alive, here is a bit about me. I grew up with a love of sports and an appreciation for the natural beauty of the earth and the cool creatures that fill it. I have 6 sisters and not a single brother, I know, my poor Dad right? I love doing anything outdoors and athletic and especially if it involves friends or family. I also loooove to learn and have an interest in just about everything.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Well, I was raised in the church and was quite fortunate in that regard. Heavy trials have been my companion from the day I was born. It was through these heart wrenching, soul searching, character refining, and core tempering trials that I have come to know that God knows who I am. I know that he cares about me and has blessed me all of my life. This knowledge about the personal attention of an affectionate Heavenly Father has lead me to understand that he loves us so much that he has, with perfection, provided answers and guidance through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that he loves us enough to provide a way for us to cope with the trials of this life and find true happiness in it. He loves us enough to show us the way to find it. I know he is not a God of confusion which is why it makes sense that he has established through his son, Jesus Christ, one organization where the whole truth can be found. There is truth and beautiful teachings and people in other religions of the world and I would never discredit the wonderful things about them. Through serving a full time mission in England, I was enabled to become better acquainted with people and religions from all over. It was a superb testing ground to try the faith which I had so long been devoted. The experience reinforced my testimony that God can be relied upon to be consistent. He still speaks to us through prophets and apostles just as he did in anciently and not just in one part of the world. This brings me to the Book of Mormon. I have read that marvelous book many times and prayed about it and tested the teachings in it. I'm thankful for the additional witness that Jesus is the Christ and that it is through him that we can live again and be forgiven of our sins. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and I hope you'll read the Book of Mormon and pray about it too. :) It will bless your life as it has mine!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to live as the Savior did and taught. I pray and read my scriptures daily. I attend church every week and try to attend the temple as often as time will permit. I have had many assignments given to me to serve others whether it be through visiting, helping, teaching, leading, or just plain having fun with others. I'm not sure I could tell you all of the ways I live may faith because it permeates every aspect of my life. From the way I choose to spend my time, how hard I work, the kind of person I am, and how I interact with others. I try to keep my life as free from negatively addicting substances or influences as much as possible and try to fill it with as many positive things and people as possible . It's not easy all of the time but I can feel a difference when I stop trying or mistakes. I'm not happy when I don't live the way Christ taught, which is just another reason I like being a Mormon. :)
