Hi I'm Ron

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am a photographer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a married father of two girls and we are a very close family. I work in the semiconductor engineering industry designing chips for a living. One of my past hobbies, photography, I turned into a side business a few years ago. I mostly do portrait sessions but also shoot sports of all kinds and more recently I've been doing high speed photography just for fun. I also design, build, paint and throw boomerangs. Yes, they do return and I do catch them, or try to. I also build, paint and play the Australian wind instrument, the didjeridu (or didgeridoo). Occasionally I like to do magic tricks, mostly with card, coins or other various close up/street magic style tricks. I love the outdoors and have camped and hiked many places, especially in Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a life time member of the church. I did not come to appreciate it until later in life though when I started my own family. Being a member gives me great comfort in knowing certain truths about life. Mainly, who I am, where I came from, why am I here, and where am I going. Knowing the eternal perspective helps make life make sense. It also helps me to keep life's problems and reward in perspective as it pertains to eternity. Conversion to the church, whether a life time member or a recent convert, is a very personal, spiritual thing. The Holy Ghost reveals truths to those who sincerely ask. Everyone is entitled to this personal revelation. It is through this personal revelation that I was truly converted to the church. It's teachings are true, I have felt the confirmation of these things, and continue to do so. I know that the true church of Jesus Christ must be run by Him and his servants who hold the priesthood who obtained the priesthood through proper authority. That authority, as well as the church, was restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith in this dispensation. I know Joseph Smith was a true prophet who translated the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ and follows His teachings as they were taught in the Americas. We use the Book of Mormon along with the Bible to learn more of His plan, teachings, and commandments. I also know that we currently have a prophet who leads this church and reveals to us how we should be living our lives. I know that Christ atoned for our sins so we have opportunities to repent and be clean. I know the church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about the gospel in one way or another. Our church is not a Sunday only church. It is an every day, for a lifetime and eternal church. We are taught that faith without works is dead. So we look for opportunities to serve, both in the church and in our communities. I have held many callings in the church. I served many years with the youth as their scout leader as well as their leader/teacher on Sunday lessons. I've held many callings and in doing so have learned many new things I otherwise never would have attempted. I am glad the church pushes us out of our comfort zones at times to help us learn and grow. I especially love to serve others both in the church and in the community. It makes for a better place and better way to live. Serving others is the best way to forget your own troubles, or at least put them in perspective.
