Hi I'm Tiona G.

I love being creative and making jewelry. I have a great husband and five wonderful children. I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a large family as one of the middle children. I was taught to work hard to achieve my goals which has blessed me my whole life. I graduated from college and taught school for a few years. Teaching is one of my favorite things. I began having children of my own and stayed home to take care of them. I love crafting of any kind. I love the process involved in creating something beautiful. I make jewelry and like to give it as gifts. It is so satifying to see someone wearing something you made just for them. I recently started working again after 20 years and find that I love it. I still love being a wife and mom, and I am learning to balance the chores aka laundry! I am in my early forties, have been married over 20 years and love my husband more than I can say. My kids keep me young. They have so much energy. I also read every chance I get. I love a good mystery the most.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was taught from an early age about the gospel, about Jesus Christ, and about living a good life. I used to envy my husband who was converted in his twenties. I used to wonder if I would have converted had I not been raised as I was. I realize now that I am so blessed to have the upbringing I did. I was able to learn "line up line" about the church. I was able to read the Book of Mormon as a teenager and feel the warm feelings in my heart telling me it was true. I go to church today because of my testimony in God and Jesus Christ. I know that they are real and that my prayers are heard and answered. There are so many great things about the church that brings me happiness. I love serving and helping others. I love teaching others about the scriptures. I love being able to pray and knowing that God knows me personally. I know that I can be together with my family forever. All of my success in this life has come because of my faith. I feel like I am a normal average kind of person who also just happens to be a Mormon. I know that I am the kind of person I am today because I was taught from a young age to choose the right. I always tell my kids when they get out of the car or leave the house to make good choices. Being a Mormon is a great choice for me!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying and reading scriptures every day. I also serve by working with the young children. I believe that we all have a responsibility to make our world a better place no matter what our religion. The scriptures teach us that we are to bear one anothers burdens, and strive to be of one heart and mind. I try to make God the most important part of my life. I am so blessed and feel like I need to try to bless others. I know that to be happy, I have to have Heavenly Father's help. I am so grateful for my faith in Him. I believe that working hard to be a good wife and mother helps me to live my faith. Sharing the scriptures with others also helps me to be a better person. For two years, I was able to teach a High School scripture class every morning at 6:00 am. Those were the greatest years of my life. It was hard to get up every morning, but I found that as I studied for my lessons, I was given greater understanding of the love Heavenly Father has for each of us. It was wonderful to share my faith with those high school students. We all learned together about the reality and divinity of Jesus Christ. I think living in faith is about priorities. Put God first, family next, and then everything else will fall into place.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Tiona G.
The Mormons believe in serving others! All others. We are often the first responders around the world in times of severe crisis. We are taught from the time we are young that when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God. Serving becomes a way of life. We don't discriminate on who we serve. We help everyone. Show more Show less
