Hi I'm Dennis

I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm a student. I'm a classmate. I'm a neighbor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a beautiful wife and a 2-year old son. I am currently in dental school. I love spending time with my family. Nothing is more important to me than my Savior, Jesus Christ, and my family. When I do have some time for myself, I enjoy watching whatever major sport is in season (fall=football, winter=basketball, summer=golf). When the weather is ideal I like to hit a round of golf with a few friends. I am a big book reader. I mostly enjoy historical fiction so that I can learn about history while being entertained, but I would be lying if I said I had not read Harry Potter or The Twilight Series.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my testimony of Jesus Christ. I have gained this knowledge and testimony of Jesus Christ by studying the Bible and Book of Mormon. Not only have I read those books, but I have prayed to my Heavenly Father and asked if those words I read were true. It has been confirmed to me many times that Jesus Christ did sacrifice his life for us, and he was a perfect example for us. I include the Book of Mormon because it is another testament of Jesus Christ, and my study of it has brought me closer to him and becoming more like him. Another reason I am Mormon is because of the good that comes to my life from keeping the commandments. This does not mean that my life is easy by any means, I struggle like anyone else who lives on this earth. What I do know is that when I am living the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am comforted and uplifted by the spirit as I wade through those difficult times. Most importantly I am a Mormon because I want to live with my family together for eternity, and I know that through keeping the covenants I made in the Holy Temple that I can do that someday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being charitable to all those I come in contact with. I try to show that love I have for them through that charity. I am the Elder's Quorum President in my ward. This means that I am a volunteer leader of a group of men, and it is my responsibility to know the needs and look after the welfare of those men and their families. I give many hours a week of my time getting to know those men and their families, and helping them in any way that I can. I help organize activities so the men I oversee and the whole community can participate and see what our Church is all about. One important role I have is what we call "Home Teaching" in our Church. Using all the men in my group to help me, I organize assignments for two men to watch over and take care of two families in the Ward. This way, every family in the Ward has two specific people whose responsibility it is to be there for them and be their friend.
