Hi I'm Holly

I'm a grad student, raised in Texas. I'm a therapist in training, I love the Gospel! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my mid thirties, about to get married for the first time. I work with children that are dealing with loss because my own personal dealing with death and loss were very traumatic. This has driven me to help others get through it as easily as possible. This work has become a very big part of my life. I love to hike, camp, take road trips and run. I have a large family that lives all over the world. I have friends from many different walks of life. My life is full of variety and I am grateful for it.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church, I had to discover the truth for myself. I made many choices that led to me being at the crossroads of life. I was confronted with an unplanned pregnancy and no spouse. Abortion was never an option to me. I chose adoption. My faith and understanding of the Lord and His mercies grew, as I searched for a family that would raise and love my little girl the way I did. It was during this time that my heart searched the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, and asked my Father in Heaven through prayer, of its authenticity and truthfulness. God wants us to know He is there, and without delay, my prayers were answered. Not only did I know that the family I had chosen for my daughter were the parents for her, but I knew that those words in the Book of Mormon were written to people like me. There are little things in life that tell us whether this path or that path is the right one, some call it instinct, others call it our conscience, but I call it promptings of the Spirit. Our Father in Heaven has given us ways to know He is there, to guide us and to protect us. If I ever needed guidance and protection in my life, it was at that crossroads where two lives hung in the balance. I have never once regretted the choice I made. I know that my little girl is a happy young lady. As well as I know through continued prayer and searching, the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know why I have chosen to live the Gospel and its principals. It is because of the happiness I feel every day of my life. I am truly happy and content with the things I've accomplished and the person I am continuing to become. Had you asked me 10 years ago if I loved myself, I would have told you no, I would have told you that I didn't like who I was and I wasn't very proud of myself. I truly believe that through the choices I have made to follow the Gospel, my life is simpler and more complete.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through teaching the youth in my church every morning before school. I get up at 4:30 am and through careful studying and preparation, go to our church building to teach our youth that are of high school age about the scriptures. This year we are learning about the Old Testament and the groundwork it has provided for the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. I go to church every Sunday. I enjoy babysitting for my married friends so that they can go on dates. I believe love is important and being able to spend alone time with your spouse is even more important to a successful marriage. I'll take on 3 to 6 kids for free. It's worth it when I see my friends come home, smiling with that spark in their eyes. I do not drink or smoke or go to clubs. I do enjoy music, but I prefer an atmosphere where I can enjoy the artist/musician and not be bombarded by the environment. I am a firm believer of 'garbage in, garbage out' - so I try to live my life that would keep my mind and body clean.
