Hi I'm Richard Wickenkamp Sr.

I'm a Mormon. I am a retired Computer Professional. I'm a Father of five and a grandfather of eighteen.

About Me

I have just retired from the field of computers, and am looking forward to being able to pursue my hobbies of gardening, woodworking and photography. I'm also an active Scouter, and I'm currently a Cub Master, and a Roundtable Commissioner. My wife and I are currently serving as service missionaries with LDS Employment Services.

Why I am a Mormon

Thirty plus years ago, in another church, a favorite pastor was fired because the congregation didn't like what he was preaching about during his Sunday sermons. I couldn't help but question that if a person was called of God to preach the Gospel, how could he be fired from that position. That in turn caused me to question about God's authority found in various protestant churches. The only church that I knew about at that time that claimed to have the authority of God was the Catholic Church. We joined that church for a couple of years until a couple of Mormon Missionaries came to our door to tell us about the Family Home Evening program. I read the Book of Mormon and took Moroni's challenge to pray about it. The rest is history. I have a testimony of the truthfullness of the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, given to me by the power of the Holy Spirit.

How I live my faith

I've spent many years working as a Family History Consultant. I have enjoyed learning about my ancestors as well as helping others learn about theirs. My wife and I enjoy being able to attend the Pheonix Temple in order to participate in ordinances on behalf of my deceased ancestors. Recently I was called to be the Cub Master of our Cub Pack, returning me to a calling in Scouting and adding to my already 28 years as an adult scouter. My wife and I are serving as service missionaries with the LDS Employment Resource Center.
