Hi I'm Candida

I'm a Mormon. I am a wife, mother, friend. I love to read.

About Me

I am a mother of 2. Married the love of my life many years ago and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with him. I recently quit my job of many years to continue my education. I love to read, crochet, and cook. My children are my joy! And, I love my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life I had questions that could not be answered or would not be answered by other churches. I found myself being told that I am just not meant to understand certain things. Fundamentally, I knew that this was wrong. I knew that our Heavenly Father did not want us to feel lost or confused. I found the Church when I was not looking for it through my husbands family. We had been married for several years and he was not an active member but his family showed us love and compassion. I went to several meetings and finally agreed to meet with the missionaries. I asked them my questions and to my surprise that had the answers! What was amazing to me was the answers that they gave were what I already believed in my heart. My most burning question/ problem was the idea of a Holy Trinity, that God The Father and Jesus Christ were the same person. How could that be? I mean, why would Jesus pray to Himself in the garden? Why would He pray to himself and ask others to be forgiven? This never made sense to me. The missionaries told me that they are completely separate beings with one goal. Thus they are one. Complete sense! There are many, many other things that I believed that when I found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and they believed the same things - I knew that I was home. One of my favorite things about the Church is that no matter where you are in the world, the Church is the same. They are teaching the same lessons and principles, they follow the same guidelines. You never have to "find" a new church. You have one already. I love the Gospel and I am so blessed to have found it. The truthfulness is absolute, and following the teachings has helped me top lead a better life. I am so very thankful that I am able to raise my children within the gospel so that they never have to wonder who they are or where they are going.

How I live my faith

Throughout the years I have served in different capacities. I have taught Sunday lessons to the women, I have taught Sunday lessons to the young children, I have served in nursery, taught Sunday lessons to the Young Women (12-18) and I have served as a leader at Girls Camp for the last 8 summers. Nursery (18month -3yrs) was one of my favorite jobs. I love children. I love to play with them, sing with them, teach them and have snack with them. I won't lie. I loved snack time with the kids. They were always so cute and anxious for whatever goodies we brought that day. Their love was unconditional. Teaching the Young Women was always interesting. Teenagers. Do I need to say more? I always hoped that they would be able to take something away from my lessons that they didn't know before or something that may help them to stop and think about a decision before they make it. By far though, my favorite has been as a leader at Girls Camp. We go for a week - just girls ages 12-18. Yes, there is drama. Yes, there is fighting. Most of all though, there is love. What a fantastic opportunity I have had to reach out to these young women and help them to believe in themselves and do things that they never thought possible before. Each and every year my love for them grows and I grow as I learn from them. I can see the Saviors love shining in their very beings and this brings great joy and hope for our future.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Tithing has always been one of the hardest principles of the Gospel for me to follow. It is such a tangible thing. I can see when the money leaves my bank account and I think of all the other things that I can be doing with it. HOWEVER, I have found that by following the simple act of paying tithing my blessings have been manifested exponentially. Here is my personal experience. My husband and I did not pay tithing for years. We followed all the other teachings of the Gospel but could not bring ourselves to give that 10% to the Church. We were happy. One day we decided that we were not being a good example to our children. They were the ones telling us that we needed to pay it. How could we refuse? So, begrudgingly, we started paying our tithing. It was not as hard as we thought it was going to be. It was just a matter of reorganizing priorities. We started seeing small blessings right away. (The thing with blessings, sometimes you need to look for them - they may be small.) Our family life, while good before, now was great. Amazingly, our children were more tolerant of each other. Our family grew closer as we did more things together and in a less costly way. After a year, we were hit with a huge blessing which was literally like a hammer over the head. Something that we had been praying for finally came to fruition. We owe it all to finally following the Gospel principles and paying our tithing as we've been instructed to do. Show more Show less
