Hi I'm Lanelle

I was born and raised in the sweltering state of Arizona in a family of six children. Clearly.... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am majoring in Sociology and am especially interested in Social Work. I love to do almost everything: vacations, sports, music and the list goes on..., but I enjoy myself the most when I'm with my family. Reading is a passion and I'm in love with the classics. Christmas time is my favorite because of the smells, the feeling of harmony in the air, and the celebration of Christ's birth. Most important to me is my family, the scriptures, which have guided me through the most difficult obstacles I have faced, and my Father in Heaven. I know that He loves me because of the prayers he has answered and the trials he has allowed me to face, which have helped me to grow into a better and stronger person.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in this faith, but my conversion story is not a single event or story that I can tell. In fact, it is still occurring!! Everyday I learn more about others, myself, and mostly about who my Father in Heaven would like me to be. I follow his commandments and the counsel of his teachers and prophets because doing so brings me joy, brings me closer to my Heavenly Father, and closer to the person I really want to become. Being a part of the LDS church allows me to have the help of my Savior as I overcome trials, and I know that I'm never alone through anything... even when it feels that way. It helps me to think more about those around me than about myself, and doing so improves my character and my relationships with others whom I care about. Most importantly though, because of my membership, I now know that we are all children of God, that He loves all of His children and that He knows and loves me personally. I feel this especially when he allows me to experience trials that are hard for me, but ultimately turn out to be what I need to learn to be better.

How I live my faith

I get to participate in lots of fun activities and the best parts are when we get together in huge groups to help out in the community. I painted the fire hydrants in my city with a giant youth group. It was very messy... but also very fun! This is just one example of the many projects I've been able to take part in. It just feels great to do things for others such as yard work, taking a meal to someone just out of the hospital, or tying a quilt, and we get to see and socialize with friends at the same time. It doesn't get much better than that. On the Sabbath we learn from each other and the experiences we've had. We remind one another how great our worth is and how to show others their worth.
