Hi I'm Heather

I grew up in Seattle. I run marathons, for fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I wear many figurative hats in my life. I am a wife, a mother of 3, a physical therapist for children, a runner, an interfaith advocate, a global thinker.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from pioneer Mormon ancestry and grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But my decision to be an active part of His church didn't happen once on my baptism day when I was 8 years old. Each morning, I make a conscious effort to live this way, committed to Jesus Christ and following His example. It gives me the focus, the direction, the perspective to get through challenging days. Knowing I am a daughter of God with divine potential helps me to ignore the contradicting voices of our day, to stop comparing myself to others, and to look inward at my relationship with my Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. Christ's life was spent in tireless service to others. His gifts of healing, testimony, compassion, and teaching were given to all, not just a few. It is this outward focus that I hope to emulate in my life, helping me to feel of the Savior's love for me and those that I encounter each day. I continue to follow His gospel because I have experienced for myself that it is true.

How I live my faith

I have the unique opportunity to serve in a public affairs capacity within my Church and community. Most of my personal interaction is with those not of my faith. I love learning, sharing, being inspired, and widening my circle of friends. Our community has an amazing interfaith organization with respectful, deep dialogue that gets to the heart of beliefs, whether common or distinct, and how we can work together to build bridges of understanding. I love raising our children in a community that respects faith, family, and service.
