Hi I'm Tyson Steel

I am a husband and father of four. I am a medical student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy father of four children eight and under. My wife and I left our comfort zone of Utah a little over a year ago to pursue a medical education in Arizona. I love to play with my children. I play sports as often as I can find time, although exercise has been lacking a bit since beginning medical school! I love to play soccer, volleyball, racquetball, to go scuba diving, target shooting, snowboarding, camping/hiking, water-skiing, or pretty much any other outdoor activity any time that I can. I previously worked in hospital laboratories and loved my time there, but always wanted more involvement in patient care. I attend A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona. Osteopathic medicine embodies my philosophy of whole person healthcare, including mind, body, and spirit. I hope to be a good physician one day and be able to impact the lives of my future patients in more than just their physical well being.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God. He is resurrected and sitting on the right hand of God, our Heavenly Father. I have never been one to doubt Him. I have been blessed through the experience of going on a mission for the church to see the lives of those around me changed for the better by learning the gospel of Jesus Christ and applying what is learned into our lives. Yes, the mission did more for me and my living a Christlike life than I think it did for any of the people that I taught. I have struggled at times with my own shortcomings, the spirit is definitely willing but the flesh is weak. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life. I know that He is the only way to return to live with the Father. He is the great Jehovah of the Old Testament, He is the Savior of the world. I am also grateful that the restoration of His gospel and His priesthood. I know that there is a living prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson, who leads and guides Gods children through direct revelation. God has not abandoned us in these latter days! He loves us just as much as He did those who lived before us and He wants us to know His will regarding current issues that were not around during the time the ancient scripture was recorded. I know that by following the prophet and the twelve apostles of the Lord we can know Gods will concerning us in our time. I hope that through your study of the gospel you will come to know as I do that God and Jesus love us each individually and personally despite our mistakes and shortcomings, and they have prepared a way for us all to return if we will listen to their chosen prophets and apostles teach, as well as apply the atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives!

How I live my faith

I have just recently moved to Flagstaff, Arizona and have no callings to serve in the ward here yet. I hope that the Lord sees fit to allow me to serve in some capacity in this new ward soon! I am busy with my medical training and through that have time to serve in the community. We are involved in a health clinic for low income. I love the opportunity to serve in any way I can, and right now this is what I can do. I hope to do more as more opportunities arise.
