Hi I'm Parker Holzer

I live in New Haven, Connecticut. I love math and science. I'm a mormon!

About Me

I am a Ph.d. student in statistics and data science at Yale University. I am 25 years old, and have been married for about 2 years. I have epilepsy, which has been a challenge that has been with me most of my life, but has by now brought me closer to my Heavenly Father. I love math, science, astronomy, and especially playing my trombone! I am part of a family of 8 and love all my brothers, sisters, and parents so much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have found so much joy and direction from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. By living the teachings of our modern-day prophet, the Book of Mormon, and the Holy Ghost I have developed faith that has helped me move forward through trials, especially my epilepsy, with a firm hope of living with my Heavenly Father again someday. I served a full-time mission in New York and saw how the gospel messages I shared helped many others to find the same happiness that I have found. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the center of everything in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the true source of never-ending happiness for anyone willing to live it.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is by trying to help everyone learn, as I have, that Heavenly Father loves each of us. Being one who has epilepsy I can understand how challenges and trials can be overwhelming in life. But by prayer, scripture study, and service my trials have brought me closer to my savior Jesus Christ and my Father in Heaven. I try to share this message of hope and happiness with anyone looking for happiness and direction in life. From my perspective, the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is always the right answer, no matter what challenges come.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Parker Holzer
The Book of Mormon was written by ancient prophets in the americas. These prophets were inspired by God just as Isaiah, Moses, John, etc. A final prophet of that time, named Mormon, compiled all of the writings from these prophets, including the most important ones for us to hear these days. Once they were compiled onto plates of gold, they were hidden in the earth. In 1827 an angel from God showed Joseph Smith where to find the plates, and through the power of God Joseph translated the writings of the ancient prophets into the Book of Mormon. To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Parker Holzer
The biggest contribution to the rapid growth of the Church is simply how it has the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which brings happiness, direction, forgiveness, relief, and hope to anyone who is willing to listen and live it. When people see the happiness that only comes from this Gospel they naturally want to learn more about it, as well as share it. I attribute the growth of the Church to the basic fact that it provides a form of eternal happiness that simply couldn't be found anywhere else. Show more Show less
