Hi I'm Alison Rockwood

I'm a wife, full time student, and photographer. I love cooking, weird indie music, and seafood. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently attend Brigham Young University-Idaho studying Art/Photography. I grew up here in Idaho, and it was even a surprise to me when I decided to stay here to go to college. I am ever grateful for this choice though, because i was fortunate enough to meet my wonderful husband in a science class... classic story, right? My husband and I manage apartments, go to school, and work. Whew! What a wonderful life! We have been married just over a year, and I am so grateful to be able to be made better each day by him. I am the sixth of six kids, so naturally my husband and I get the responsibility of favorite aunt and uncle since we don't have kids of our own! (We'll see what my siblings have to say to that!) My husband and I both grew up with family get-togethers focused on movies and good food, and I think we would both agree that there is no better combination. Family, movies, and great food.

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since I can remember my life has been centered around this church. Although I had no previous religion, I do believe that we are all converted. We all have our choice to accept this church and it's teachings, and experiences for why are different for everyone. In high school I was fortunate enough to be able to attend seminary (a release time during school to go have lessons about the church). Although I always knew that I loved the religion, way of life, and teachings, I had never questioned or imagined my life without it. I had a testimony, but not one that I had truly forged on my own. That year in seminary we studied the Book of Mormon. One night as I read in 3 Nephi, I experienced a new feeling. The stories I had heard all of my life had suddenly become different. I knew that they weren't just stories; I knew that they were real. As I read, a feeling of comfort and love so indescribable came over me, and i could not stop reading. Christ lived on this earth. He loves each one of us. I am a Mormon because I am able to feel His love personally. Our Heavenly Father knows each one of us by name. He knows me because I felt His love that night just for me, and no one else. He knows what I need at every moment of my life. I continue to feel His love each day. The happiness this gospel brings to me is something that can't be traded for anything once you let it into your life, and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it with others. In my ward right now i have the opportunity to be in charge of compassionate service. This means that i get to provide service for all of the women in the ward, whether they're sick, having a baby, or just need a hug.. we even do some secret service. This has been such a blessing in my life to get to emulate Christ's kindness even more in my life. Sometimes we need to remember others, and their faith to strengthen our own. I enjoy visiting teaching, in which every woman in the ward has the assignment of visiting another woman in the ward every month. It is a special opportunity to bear testimony of the gospel, give service, and make friendships. Sharing my faith and love for the gospel with service to others, is one way I become closer to my Heavenly Father.
