Hi I'm Brent Collinwood

I am an entrepreneur. I am the 2nd of 6 kids. I love outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from an lds family and I know that being part of my family has been a central part of my life that shaped me into who I am today. I have one older brother, one younger sister and three more younger brothers. We love to tease and joke around with one another especially on long car rides. I love doing sports and staying active. I am an Eagle Scout and so I have become very aware of nature and it's many wonders. I love the mountains therefore snowboarding has become my favorite activity in the winter. Before going to college I hiked to the top of a mountain where I could see for miles in every direction. When snowboarding I can do the same thing when I get to the top of the mountain. Along with great views there is nothing better than jumping out of an airplane and seeing the world coming towards you at over 120 miles an hour. Right now I am going to college to major in business management and then to go to medical school so that one day I can start my own practice as a surgeon. I love learning about the body and how it functions and for that reason I want to be able to work in a field where that is what I do all day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of trial and error. I do not consider myself to be a spiritual person or someone who believes everything at first glace, I need to test it out and experiment for myself. When I was younger I never truely believed anything my parents or leaders taught me about the church, I merely went through the motions to not upset anyone. Until recently I never knew if this was what I was supposed to do in my life. I was told that if I wanted to know I needed to truely read the scriptures, specificly the Book of Mormon, and then to pray to God to know if it was true. At first I didn't want to change anything in my life but slowly and surely reading from this amazing book is what brought me closer to my savior than anything I could have imagined. The Book of Mormon is the word of God just like the Bible and I know it to be true because I have seen it change my life. I know it was written by prophets and was translated into english for me. Faith in Jesus Christ and repentance is what it's all about and if it weren't for this gospel leading my life in the direction it has, I know that I would not be the kind of person I am today. I know that this church will help anyone who is going through a hard time because it has helped me and I know it can help you.

How I live my faith

I life my faith through serving others. When I serve people I feel happy and it is a different type of happy. It is a type of joy that you can never get enough of. I have done service opportunities for people who have had their homes destroyed because of natural desasters. When I finish a day serving someone who truely and honestly needed it, I get a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of happiness that is indescribable. I know that if Jesus were here and someone needed help he would go out of his way to help them. All of our lives are busy and full of things to do and places to go but if we don't stop and serve our neighbors we didn't accomplish anything. I know that through this church I have been able to do more service to the community than I could have imagined.
