Hi I'm Amy

I'm a future librarian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a graduate student studying library and information science. I want to be a librarian because I love books and I love learning. I have even studied Shakespeare and drama in England. I like to play the piano and go to sporting events. I have lived all over the United States, and I want to visit all 50 states during my lifetime. I'm an oldest child, and I love my family!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life, I have had to learn for myself that it is true, that it really is Christ's church. I know that this church has the fullness of Christ's gospel because of the way I feel when I live its teachings. When I pray, read the Book of Mormon and the Bible, go to church, go to the temple, serve and am served by others, I have felt the Holy Ghost bear testimony in my heart that I am doing what the Lord wants me to do. Conversely, when I have prioritized other, less worthy things over my living of this gospel, I have felt the Holy Ghost leave me. I have felt the Spirit bear witness to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that Thomas S. Monson is His prophet living today. Why am I a Mormon? Because I love the Lord and I know that this is His church.

How I live my faith

I am a Sunday School teacher in my congregation of young single adults. This means that every week I study the words of the scriptures, supplemented by the words of modern prophets, and when I come to church on Sunday I essentially lead a discussion about those words. I also accompany the singing in the meeting of women in my congregation by playing the piano. Do you know the parable of the talents in Matthew 25? I used to be the servant who buried his talent (in my case, piano-playing) in the ground so that no one could see it. This assignment has forced me to do something with my talent, and like with the other two servants, my talent has grown to much more than it originally was.
