Hi I'm Mary

I love life and being around others. I grew up in Utah the youngest of 9 children and am raising 4 of my own. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite thing to do is be around others. I love to get to know them and show I care. I spend most of my time being with my best friend, my husband, and helping my 4 children as they grow and work through life. I love to read fantasy/sci-fi books, eat and exercise. I love living near mountains and enjoy spending what time I can in them. Nothing has been more important to me in my life than the knowledge and relationship I have with my Lord and Redeemer. The guidance I have received because of the gospel of Jesus Christ has made me more of who I am today than anything else.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ my entire life. My ancestors, on both sides, go back to the beginning of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However I often say that I am a convert. I was raised this way but I have made a conscious choice to be a part of The Church of Jesus Christ because I know that it is The Church of Jesus Christ. As I have studied, followed, and prayed regarding the truths taught in this church I have learned for myself that they are true. The Holy Spirit has testified so many, many times to my mind and heart that they are true. I have seen miracles, and been apart of them. I know that God is real and he loves me. That knowledge helps me in all aspects of my life. The peace I can have in my heart by knowing I follow God's plan for me effects all that I do. I know that Jesus Christ knows me intimately and can comfort me in ways that no other can. I know that when I trust in him--even when it doesn't make sense- things work out in the end. I know that when I "feast upon the word of God", especially The Book of Mormon, I get answers to questions I did and didn't know I had. I receive guidance that has never lead me astray. I know that God has, does and will call prophets to teach of Christ and God's plan. I know that as I exercise my faith in Jesus Christ I can overcome all things and I can be saved in His kingdom. I wish everyone could have the blessings I have had in my life because of God's hand in it. I know that anyone can have these and more if they will but accept and follow Him. Understanding God, his plan and love for me is the most precious thing in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to become more- even if it just the slightest sliver- like my Heavenly Father. This means that I pray for guidance and read the scriptures daily. I say I'm sorry and do my best to change when I have offended the Holy Spirit or done wrong. I teach my children that Jesus Christ is real and if they will turn to him they will find help in life as well as salvation. I lead the singing time for the children at church and visit women in the church monthly. I support my husband in his efforts to follow God and serve in the church. I also spend time serving in the Temple on a regular basis. I am happy to help others who are in need and give a smile or a hug when needed.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Grace is essential to salvation. It is through the grace of God that we can do all things. It is only through His grace that I can be forgiven of my sins and become worthy to live with Him again. My efforts to repent and follow His commandments (works) are what He requires to that I can "access" His grace fully, but do not in and of themselves "save" me. I am and will always be in His debt for the grace He offers me. Show more Show less
