Hi I'm GLORIA HERRERA

Im a future interior designer. In love with the small details in life. I have been blessed beyond measure. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am such a lucky girl. I am the eldest of four. Im from mexico. I tend to be silly and love to talk. I am going to school to be an interior designer (im in love with the whole start from scratch to a beautiful home process). I enjoy hiking. I love to draw and im always looking for things that inspire me.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were baptized when i was four and went in active shortly after. When i was nine i went to the mesa temple's visitor center watched a movie and filled out my info on the little sheet they had given me. I wanted to know more. sure enough the missionaries came and i choose for myself to be baptized. At the times my parents where going through a divorce and having the gospel in my life gave me hope that things would be alright. When times get hard i think back on when i was young and the faith i had and i tell my self that i still have it and that things will always be alright. Even if its not my will Heavenly Father sees the bigger picture.

How I live my faith

I served with all my heart as the young women president in the branch i attend. That calling changed my life the young women i was able to served with were amazing! I was so blessed to be with them. We get together on wednesday nights and have Mutal its a day out of the week that they can bond and learn other teaching of the gospel. On sundays and advisor or myself will give a lesson and message that the lord wants them to hear. The youth have such strong faith and are at the same time such silly girls. We did lots of laughing, crying, hugging, learning and service. I was able to see the love that Heavenly father has for his daughters. I was able to grow and learn so much from them like how to be a better example how to listen and love. As much as i am going to miss all the girls and watching their spiritual growth i know this calling came and ended at the right time in my life. I am now preparing to serve the lord by leaving on a mission and i hope that all that i gained from my calling will be able to bless others.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

GLORIA HERRERA
For the young men its something thats a little more expected of but they are not forced to go. For the young women its more of an optional choice, they are able to do and serve in ways the young men cant. Senior couples are strongly encourage to go if all of their children have left the home. The desire to serve the lord has to come form the heart and he helps provide a way to serve always. But in a sense every member is a missionary. Show more Show less
