Hi I'm Melinda

I'm a happy wife and mother, an avid reader, a crossword enthusiast, an art lover, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of eight kids born to wonderful parents, and I have always loved spending time with family. Now, I am married to a loving husband and we have an 18 month old boy who makes me smile every day. Family is truly the greatest blessing in my life. When I have a quiet moment to myself, I can ususally be found curled up on the couch with a good book. I especially enjoy reading fiction with characters I can really admire, and I love learning life lessons from what I read. You might also find me working on a new crossword puzzle; I love to challenge my mind and learn new things. In college, I studies Humanities with an emphasis in Art History. I'm constantly amazed at artists' ability to create something so beautiful, and even life-like, out of paint, canvas, marble, or whatever their medium. I believe God is the greatest creator. I love viewing His handiwork in all the world around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I discovered The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of the conversion and faith of my ancestors and parents. Their examples laid a foundation for me and allowed me to see the principles of the gospel of the Jesus Christ in action growing up. Seeing their devotion to God led me to desire and seek my own testimony. I began praying and reading the Book of Mormon daily with the intent to learn for myself if it was of God and what He would have me do. I continued living His commandments as I had been taught. A few months later, as I rode the bus to my Jr. High School, I had the following words come to my mind: "You already know (it's true)." At that moment, a feeling of peace and warmth filled my heart. I can say I know for myself the Book of Mormon is from God and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His church on the earth today. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Attending church meetings every Sunday helps me start out the week right. I love interacting with everyone there and know that my faith grows as we learn from and serve each other. Currently, I have the opportunity to work with several young men and women who are preparing to serve full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love feeling inspiration flow as I teach them, and I love seeing their faith and confidence in God and themselves grow. As I go about errands and daily activities, I try to be kind and loving to everyone I meet, for I know that is what Jesus would do, and I want to be like Him. I know it makes Him happy when I reach out and open up my heart to His precious children who cross my path. In making choices of what to watch, read, or listen to, I try to follow the 13th Article of Faith, part of which says: "If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." I know that as I fill my life with these kinds of things I am happier and feel closer to my Heavenly Father. I am not perfect, and I am grateful for a loving Savior who provided a way for me to repent, or change, and be forgiven. Everyday, I feel promptings from the Spirit that guide me in how to be a better mother, a better wife, and a better daughter of God. I am so grateful for His involvement in my life.
