Hi I'm Cecil C. Gabriel

I'm a Mormon. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints on Oct 2, 2001.

About Me

I am a 70 year old retired guy who married to a wonderful LDS lady 6 years ago. In the process I inherited a family of 7 grown children and 23 grand kids and one great grand child. I have a small home business/hobby of sharpening knives and tools. I also enjoy just about any project that involves working with wood. I have built furniture and misc wood projects. My latest project was to build an back yard solar shower that works very well for 2-3 months of the year here in the Pacific NW.

Why I am a Mormon

For nearly 50 years the only time I stepped foot in a church was for an occasional wedding or a funeral. On my 61st birthday I was introduced to the Church by a good friend. A few months later a couple of smiley faced missionaries showed up on my doorstep. Six months after that I woke up one morning with the most powerful feeling that I needed to be baptized. On Oct 21 2001 I became a member of the LDS Church, the best move I have ever made. At the time I joined the Church I had been a confirmed bachelor for 27 years. Four years later I met my wife and have been married for 6 years.

How I live my faith

When I had been in the Church exactly a year I received my first Temple reccomend. My first calling was that of a ward missionary, following that I spent 4 years as ward mission leader working closely with the full time missionaries. I have to admit that was one of the most rewarding callings I have had so far. Most recently I served as first assistant to the High Priest group leader for about 4 years.
