Hi I'm Miles

Born in Salt Lake City. Grew up in Salt Lake Valley. Served in France. Working on my Master's Degree in sociology at BYU.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and raised in a home with an LDS mother and a non-religious father. My dad was baptized into the LDS Church when I was a teenager and we were sealed in the temple about a year later. I served my mission in southern France and later received my BA in French Studies and am currently working on my Master's in sociology with plans to work towards a PhD in sociology in the coming years. I love to golf and am an avid sports fan, especially of college football (Go Utes!), the NFL, baseball, and basketball. Other than my faith, my greatest blessing and most important thing to me is my lovely wife! We were married in the Draper Utah Temple in 2014. She is incredible and I love her with all of my heart!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that it is Christ's restored church on the earth today and that it contains the fullness of His gospel. There is no doubt in my mind that God exists and that He is my Heavenly Father and that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to the world to teach us the truths that lead to eternal life. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Redeemer and that He lived and died was resurrected. He suffered the pains and sins of the world for me as an individual and for the whole human family. I know He lives and that He did what He did out of pure love. My testimony of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father come from several sources. I have read Their words and the words of the prophets in the Bible, which I know to be true. I know that Bible is true not only because the Holy Ghost has testified of it to me, but also because I have read the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon confirms the truths of the Bible and teaches us even more about God's great plan for His children. As the Holy Ghost has testified to me that the Book of Mormon is true, I also know that Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet of God and that he restored Christ's church and gospel to the earth in our day. I also know that the restored church has been led by modern prophets and apostles since the time of Joseph Smith to the present day with Thomas S. Monson as our prophet. I know that Jesus is the Christ, that He saves and redeems us through His atoning sacrifice and that by and through His grace and mercy we will all be resurrected to live again and that we may return to live with Him and God our Heavenly Father along with our families forever.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by actually living it. For me, the Gospel is not just about Sunday and attending church, it is how I live my day-to-day life. It is how I treat my family, friends, coworkers, and strangers. I am not perfect at it and at times fall short, but I try to see the best in people and treat them with respect, kindness, and charity. I love studying the scriptures every day, I always either learn something new or find a way to strengthen my faith. Prayer is very important to me, I could not live without it. Being able to communicate with my Father in Heaven helps give me guidance, bring me peace, give me strength, and keep me grounded and moving forward. My wife and I enjoy spending time together participating in wholesome activities, scripture study, prayer, weekly worship services, and with our families. The Gospel is really all about families and it seems that everything we do in the Gospel is designed to help build and strengthen our families with the hopes that we can be together forever.
