Hi I'm Darlene

I grew up near San Francisco, I have a degree in exercise science, I'm married and have a nine month old boy. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for five years, and we just had our first baby boy in January! Being a mom is the most rewarding thing ever. Watching him grow every day is a miracle I love to see happening before my eyes. I love being in the outdoors and working out. Being active and pushing myself to new limits is exhilarating. This is why I went into exercise science as my degree. I'm hoping one day to go back to school to be an occupational therapist and help kids. I also love cooking, baking and eating! I enjoy making things like pillows, blankets and crafts. I love traveling and would like to do more of it; this time with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the San Francisco area, I was always asked why am I a Mormon? I really had to look into myself and ask the same question. when I was a teenager I realized my religion gave a firm purpose to my life. I didn't want to waste my life drinking and making bad choices. I switched high schools so I would get away from that lifestyle and on the weekends I would hang with my family and have the best time of my life. I found that my Savior died for me, and that is something I hold sacred, and keeps me grounded. Now as I start this family of mine I want something to share with my children that gave (and keeps giving) so much meaning in everything I do. I also know that I get to be with my family forever. I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and for the past year I taught the 8 and 9 year old kids for two hours. They are very active, but teaching these children was so humbling to me. They are so pure and I learned so much from them. We have many different church activities from Halloween parties to canned food drives to helping people move. Every week brings a new adventure!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Darlene
I love missions! I didn't serve one, but I have four brothers who did, and they all had amazing experiences. When the time can for me to decide to go or not I knew it was more important for me to start a family. I serve mini missions everyday in my own community. Show more Show less
