Hi I'm Karri

I grew up in Calgary, Canada and immigrated to the USA in 1995. I own my own business while raising 3 children and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Canada and moved to the USA for my Dental Assisting Degree. I met my husband while at school and due to visa restrictions we had to move back to Canada where we were married in the Alberta Temple. After my husband completed his bachelor’s degree we moved back to the USA - where I found myself an immigrant in another country. It was strange not having voting rights or being able to work for a while until all my papers came through. After seven long years I became a citizen in 2002. During this time I had three wonderful children - who bring me such joy and laughter, I can't imagine a day without them. Once my youngest started school fulltime I started attending university where I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in Business. In 2006 I started a Dental Management Company in Indiana. I now have over 150 employees and own 11 dental practices. I also just completed my MBA in September of 2011 with a 4.0 GPA. So between three children, an MBA program and a successful business I have been really busy! One of my favorite things about my business is the opportunity to motivate and teach my employees...it is truly my "zest" in life. There is nothing better than helping an employee who is struggling reach new heights of success through a stable job atmosphere, a "you can do it" encouragement message! I have seen so many people struggle and dig deep inside of themselves only to succeed in ways they never thought! What more can I say I love what I do (and then some)!!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents became members when I was 5 years old - so I don't really remember a time without the church of Jesus Christ in my life...but that doesn't mean I just sailed along and went to church because my parents did. I had to gain a testimony of my own and I did that through reading the Book of Mormon and asking with a sincere heart if it was true. In my early teen years - I received a clear message that what I was reading was true. If the Book of Mormon was true - then the teachings of the church were also true. Since then I have used this knowledge to gain a better relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ. Not a day goes by when I don't call upon him for guidance. In my company I use Jesus Christ's guidance in all of my major decisions. When hiring a new manager - my entire team knows, I am going to have to pray about it and sleep on it for at least one night. I remember telling my new Human Resource Manager that I had prayed about her coming on board and it was clear to me through the power of prayer that she was the candidate to offer the job too. She replied "Is that why I just couldn't turn down this job!" What would I do without the ability to reach out to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for answers...for help? Here is the best part for anyone visiting this site - you too can know for yourself...a sure knowledge, a personal knowledge that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and can help you with your personal life. You have to be proactive, but if you are truly seeking answers - they will come. You will find peace and you will be happier than you have ever been. Go ahead - give it a try! What do you have to lose? Read the Book of Mormon and ask if it is true. Just like me and millions of other people - you will know for yourself. I wish you so much peace and joy as you begin your own personal journey towards truth and right!

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a counselor in our regional (stake) primary presidency. Primary is like Sunday school for the children of our church ages 18 months to 12 years old. I travel around to the various wards training and mentoring the local units who teach our precious children. I motivate, encourage and help ensure all teachers are following the curriculum and teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. I again find myself in a teaching and motivating role - even in the gospel! I am always amazed at the quality of teachers and leaders through all my travels! I also live my faith with my own precious family by being a good example to my children and husband. In the business world there are always temptations to make decisions that would negatively affect my life. I avoid those choices because I love my children and the gospel so much I would not want to do anything that would jeopardize our forever family. I make simple righteous choices like ensuring that I use my own stamps for my personal mail (instead of work stamps) to more in-depth choices like being honest with my business acquisition details (even though honesty is the harder path). Over the years as I have practiced making good choices, they have become more second nature and have given me the results I have needed in my life. Have I made mistakes in my life? Of Course!! But each day I use my "start over" card to learn from my mistakes and hopefully make myself a better person. I use the love of my Savior and his sacrifice to forgive myself, learn from my mistakes and try again. How amazing is that? As you can see I am an action kind of gal...I like to live life to the fullest - set high goals for myself and my family. As I continue to commit to living the gospel, serve others and work hard - the gospel provides a safety net for my decisions and pathways to take. God Bless you on your own journey to find peace and happiness - you are certainly in the right place to begin!
