Hi I'm Steven

I grew up in St. George Utah. I enjoy a good hike and I love to read. I'm serving a mission in Colorado. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy hiking, reading and I can be a bit of a show off (only in the nerdiest of ways of course). I enjoy hanging out with my friends and being that weird crazy guy who makes life interesting. I love that quality me time as well. Nothing quite beats coming home after a long day and sitting down with a good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because life is hard. I need Christ to turn to and he has made it clear how to do so. We do so by making covenants with him. That's what baptism is and it's clear how we are to be baptized. We need to be baptized by someone holding authority. You don't need to take my word for it, ask god, he does answer prayers. This is the true church and that is why I am a Mormon. I asked god and found out for myself. So the real question is: Will you ask god to find out for yourself?

How I live my faith

I live my life the way my savior wants me to. I live to improve myself and through that medium improve others as well. I've lived through some tough times. Some wouldn't think them hard as I did grow up in a family with much luxury. It's hard to see that until you've seen what others lack. I know I've been spoiled rotten living in America. Happiness isn't in the objects we obtain or the status we have it's in knowing you've done the best with what you have and knowing that you have a loving father you can turn to. Life is hard enough without people pushing down on you so why not lift another up, after all we follow Christ and that is what he spent his entire ministry doing. When I serve I feel gods love for me and that makes me happier than anything else in this world. So I guess what I do to live my faith is I serve, I support, I love, and I pray because that is what my god has asked of me.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Steven
We're normal people with normal lives. We only have a few things we refrain from doing. We don't smoke, drink, do drugs, or have coffee or certain kinds of tea. We do this because its been revealed that these things are bad for us and we believe the body is a gift from god so we treat it as such. We also have been promised blessings for obeying these comandments which we call "the word of wisdom". We will live longer be healthier and learn quicker and easier because of this. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Steven
We don't worship Joseph Smith. We respect him greatly much like Moses or Elijah. He performed a great work and endured much tribulation including imprisonment, tar and feathering, and betrayal. Shouldn't a man who endured so much for his beliefs be respected? Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Steven
The simplest way of saying it is "to progress". Our experience on earth is a gift from god and we should try to treat all things with that mindset. This life is a testing ground to see for ourselves what we can become. We are given challenges to help us learn valuable truths such as Faith, Honesty, Charity, and patience. Every challenge has a lesson to be learned we just have to ask "What can we learn from this?" or "What is my heavenly father trying to teach me?" and live with what we know. God has given us our families so we can learn from them and grow closer. Many have dysfunctional families and its sad but they need to ask themselves "Can I forgive and forget as Christ wants me to?". That is another opportunity for learning that our heavenly father has given us. Show more Show less
