Hi I'm Ashley

I am a mother of two. I have a Master's Degree in social work. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I love being a mom. I love serving others. I love learning. I love family. I love to cook. I love to read. I have two beautiful girls and I get to spend most of my time with them. I love to learn about being a good mom and I love to teach them and watch them learn. I also had the opportunity to go to college and work helping people with substance abuse addictions and other problems. I love being a social worker. I also have an awesome husband who helps me in all I do and who is an amazing dad for my girls. I love him.

Why I am a Mormon

I have an undeniable testimony of the reality of a living, loving God. He knows me. He has a plan for me. He provided a Savior for me so that I can improve myself and one day return to live with Him again. I know He misses me while I am away, but He loves me enough to allow me this time to learn and struggle in a difficult world. He has provided all the help I could ever need and has given me prayer so I can always talk to Him and ask for His help. He has answered so many of my prayers in very real ways. He loves it when I follow His plan, because He knows I will be happy. He never meant for us to do it all on our own so he has provided a church where we can interact with others and receive strength from doing so. He has also given us the gift of eternal families so we can grow and learn together, supporting and strengthening each other as needed. And best of all, he has given us the Holy Ghost who can always be with us to teach, testify, remind, and guide us. The Book of Mormon and the Bible teach me a lot about Him and Jesus Christ and their plan for me. The Prophets receive added revelation so God can continue to remind us of His doctrine and plan and teach us how to live it in our day. I am grateful for the many ways God uses to remind me of His love for me and I hope I will always take advantage of the blessing of being a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by listening to the Holy Ghost. I know it can tell me how and when I can best study, learn, and serve others. I do struggle with living my faith everyday and try to re-commit often so that I can live up to my testimony and privileges. I try to be a good mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and neighbor because I know that's what living my faith is all about--serving others.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

I think the purpose of this life is to improve and progress in a difficult environment and show our willingness to help those around us as they do the same. We show our desire to continue our relationships after we leave this earth. We are here to learn from our own experience that we are happiest when we choose good over evil. We hope to change ourselves so that one day our thoughts, desires, and actions are the same as Jesus Christ's and Heavenly Father's. We desire to be like Him. The purpose of this life is to return to our Heavenly Father improved and ready to take the next step in His plan for us. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith grew up in a Christian family who read and learned from the Bible. They believed in a loving God who could guide us and tried to follow the teachings of Jesus. His dad sought to find a church that was organized like the church Jesus organized while on the earth. Joseph was confused how each church could interpret the same scripture so differently and realized the only way to know who was right was to ask God as stated in James 1:5. So he asked God in prayer which church was right at the age of 14 and received the answer in a vision that none of the churches were right and that God was going to restore His church to the earth. We have no record of Joseph asking any other questions of God until he was 17. Finally, when he was 17, he asked his standing before God and if he had a work for him to perform. He again was answered in a vision and learned the concept that God is there to guide us when we take our questions to Him. The church was restored through Joseph Smith as he took his questions to God and was willing to do His will as revealed. I know Joseph was a prophet of God and was instrumental in restoring God's church as was set up on the earth by Jesus himself. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Bible is a record of God's covenants and dealings that comes from the Jews. The Book of Mormon is a record of God's covenants and dealings that comes from people the Lord led to the American Continent before Jerusalem was conquered around 600 B.C. The Lord loves all people and people all over the world have had dealings with Him. Prophets in the Book of Mormon made a covenant with God that the words they wrote would be preserved and brought forth in a later dispensation. God brought forth the Book of Mormon through a latter-day prophet, Joseph Smith, who was able to translate the book by the power of God. It is a powerful testament of Jesus Christ and one can know the truth of it by reading and asking God if it is of Him. Show more Show less
