Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, nicknamed "Mormons." I grew up in Colorado and now live in Ca.

About Me

I am a mother of 3 children. Our children all came into our family through adoption. As my children are all in school now, I am doing substitute teaching for elementary & middle school . I love most all sports including, running, volleyball, biking and hiking. I love being outdoors! I enjoy playing the piano.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both members of the "Mormon" church when I was born. My Mom is from a long line of family in this religion. My Dad joined this church when he was 19 yrs. old. My Dad was introduced to the church through my mom, but he strongly will tell you that he did not join the church for my mom. He found his own testimony and through prayer received his answer that this was God's true church. My Dad has been a Mormon now for 47 yrs. and has a very strong testimony of the church to this day. I had to find my own testimony and not rely upon my parent's beliefs of this church. I was one of only a handful of teenagers that were members of the church in my high school in Colorado. I chose to not drink or smoke from a young age and recognized the value in this decision. It was not easy at times to feel so "different" from those around me, but I felt good about my decisions to obey the Word of Wisdom & stay true to my standards. I also felt strongly about staying morally clean & not participating in premarital sex. I remember guys at my high school talking about me, saying "oh she's cute or whatever, but usually when they found out I was "Mormon" they were not interested any more in me. Most guys in high school only want one thing and I was comfortable and happy with my decision to not have premarital sex. Looking back...these good decisions have made all the difference in my life! I did meet the man of my dreams and we have been married for 22 years! I do know that this church is true! I have prayed about it's truthfulness and received a burning in my heart and mind that God revealed it's truth to me personally. My testimony of this church means everything to me and is how I chose to live my life.

How I live my faith

I love helping with the youth of our church. My calling involves helping the teenagers ages 12yrs. to 18yrs. I love teenagers! Teenagers today live in such a crazy, weird world and teaching them good values and standards is so important!! We meet on Sunday & have separate classes for all age groups as we learn the gospel together. I also help with Dances for our youth in which all kids that want to come can participate. I know lots of teenagers say their high school dances are pretty scary these days and they prefer coming to a dance that doesn't allow certain kinds of dancing & the kids just have good clean fun together! We also provide youth conferences, girls camp and many enriching activities for youth to grow in strength & in developing their own testimonies. I also help with leadership training of youth. We have youth committees where youth participate in planning activities & executing those plans.
