Hi I'm Kathy

My dad was in the U.S. Air Force and I grew up all over the U.S. and Japan. My husband and I now live in Texas. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have 4 children. Our oldest daughter was born with multiple handicaps. She died at 39 due to heart failure caused from status seizures (that is seizures 24/7). My husband is a retired police officer. I am a homemaker. My favorite hobbies are sewing related. I am currently crocheting bedspreads for each of our six grandchildren. I have a home style embroidery machine and love to do designs and learn new things. I am also currently making quilt blocks from two block of the month clubs. I also like to cross stitch and have just completed the nativity which was a 9 month long project.

Why I am a Mormon

After the death of my husbands father, my mother-in-law came to visit for Christmas (She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.) After her visit we had a visit from some of the members in Austin. They asked us if we would be interested in hearing about the church and we agreed to have the missionaries come talk with us. After the first few meetings we knew we had found the true church and wanted to be baptized and be a part of this wonderful gospel. The teachings of a forever family was something my husband and I believed before knowing about the church and were so glad to learn about a church that taught this principle. One of the other teachings that the church teaches is that of the God head and how Christ, God and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings. That made so much more since to me than what I had been taught. Knowing of a church with a modern day Prophet was also another easy concept. How grateful I am for our Prophet Thomas Monson who guides and directs our church today. I am so thankful for the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

My husband and I serve in the church by working with those who are having financial difficulties. We help them by teaching how to set up a budget and try working within it. I am also going to be helping with crafts at our girls camp (12-18 year old girls) this next spring. My husband and I also visit the home bound and check on family members. Working in our callings in the church help us to learn how to better serve our neighbors and church.
