Hi I'm Dena

I'm a wife and mother of three wonderful children. I'm a pediatric emergency room nurse and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife of 21 years married to my dream guy, I have three wonderful children who keep me on my toes. I am in a constant state of learning about myself and others. Just when I think I have it figured out life changes and I have to adjust again. My oldest recently went to college and I feel as if I am having to learn to be a parent all over again. I struggle in learning how to let go but still be a part of her life. I love to read, just about anything I can get my hands on. I love to bake, especially for other people. I used to be an elementary school teacher but went back to school to pursue my life long dream about 10 years ago and became a registered nurse. I am currently working as a pediatric emergency room nurse and I love it! There are days that it can be especially stressful at work but my faith in God sustains me and helps me to encourage others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, meaning that I have always been a member. My mother grew up as mormon but my father is a convert to the church. All throughout my childhood and teenage years going to church and living the gospel was just a part of life. I never questioned it or even thought that there was another option. As I entered college I began to question my faith. Was it really true? I realized that I had been relying on my parents testimony and not my own. I looked around me and thought that this was my life and my choice. I didn't want to live and believe a certain way just because my parents said I should. I began investigating all different religions. I even went so far as to sit down and talk with leaders of other faiths. One day I contacted the mormon missionaries for myself. I asked them to teach me the discussions just as they would a non-member. Everything they taught rung true. The Holy Ghost confirmed to me that this was indeed the Lord's true church. I began to gain a testimony of my own. I began to live the gospel based on my beliefs and my testimony. I have never looked back.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday, it is part of my life. This doesn't mean that I am perfect, only that I strive to live what I believe. My faith influences everything I do and every choice I make. I strive to serve others whether I be at work, home, church or in the community. At church I work with the young women ages 12 and 13. I teach them lessons on Sunday and do activities with them on Wednesday nights. I occasionally play the piano at church for the main worship service. Most of my community service revolves around my children's activities. (PTO president, Travel soccer team mom, Room mother, Soccer registrar) At work, I sometimes have to deal with the death of a child. My faith in Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation for all of Heavenly Father's children sustain me. I am so grateful to have this knowledge and to be able to share this with others.
